The Flying Dutchman is a legendary ghost ship that can never make port, doomed to sail the oceans forever. It probably originates from 17th-century nautical folklore. The oldest extant version dates to the late 18th century.
Sightings in the 19th and 20th centuries reported the ship to be glowing with ghostly light. If hailed sa pamamagitan ng another ship, the crew of the Flying Dutchman will try to send messages to land, or to people long dead. In ocean lore, the sight of this phantom ship is a portent of doom
The ship was sailing around the Cape of Good Hope (the southern tip of Africa) when it encountered a bad storm. Because of the captain's refusal to sail for ligtas harbor, the ship was Nawawala and the captain and crew doomed to sail the seas forever. Richard Wagner wrote a play based on a legend that says the Captain is allowed to go ashore every seven years in order to redeem himself sa pamamagitan ng winning the hand of a maiden.

One was sa pamamagitan ng Prince George of Wales, the future King George V. During his late adolescence, in 1880, with his elder brother Prince Albert Victor of Wales, he was on a three-year voyage with their tutor Dalton, temporarily shipped into HMS Inconstant after the damaged rudder in their original ship, the 4,000-tonne corvette Bacchante was repaired. Off the coast of Australia, between Melbourne and Sydney, Dalton records:
At 4 a.m. the Flying Dutchman crossed our bows. A strange red light as of a phantom ship all aglow, in the midst of which light the masts, spars and sails of a brig 200 yards distant stood out in strong relief as she came up on the port bow, where also the officer of the watch from the bridge clearly saw her, as did the quarterdeck midshipman, who was sent pasulong at once to the forecastle; but on arriving there was no vestige nor any sign whatever of any material ship was to be seen either near or right away to the horizon, the night being clear and the sea calm. Thirteen persons altogether saw her ... At 10.45 a.m. the ordinary seaman who had this morning reported the Flying Dutchman fell from the foretopmast crosstrees on to the topgallant forecastle and was smashed to atoms

On January 26, 1923, four seamen sighted what is believed to be the ghost ship The Flying Dutchman. At 12:15 A.M. they noticed a strange light. Looking through binoculars they were able to make out what looked like a ship's hull. The ship was luminous with 2 masts. Instead of sails, it appeared as if there was a thin mist where the sails would be. As the ghost ship neared the sailors' vessel, it suddenly disappeared.

It is sinabi that the appearance of the Flying Dutchman is an omen of disaster and that it is seen most often during stormy weather.

March, 1939, the ghost ship was seen off the coast of South Africa sa pamamagitan ng dozens of bathers who supplied detailed descriptions of the ship, although most had probably never seen a 17th century merchant vessel. The British South Africa Annual of 1939 included the story, derived from newspaper reports:

“With uncanny volition, the ship sailed steadily on as the Glencairn tabing-dagat folk stood about keenly discussing the whys and wherefores of the vessel. Just as the excitement reached its climax, however, the mystery ship vanished into thin air as strangely as it had come.”

The last recorded sighting was in 1942 off the coast of Cape Town. Four witnesses saw the Dutchman sail into mesa Bay… and vanish.

There have been reports even in the 20th century , including the crew of a German submarine bangka during World War II .
ander Decken was the first captain of the Flying Dutchman.

In Japan, people use lots of smileys or emotions in their messaging.

While emoji (graphical presentations of emoticons) are probably most known, “kaomoji” (from “kao” = face, “moji” = character) are the Japanese version of Western/Eastern emoticons and there are practically endless variations available.

The biggest difference to the Western/Eastern and Japanese emotions is that they read horizontally and you don’t need to turn your head to understand them.

For example the Western/Eastern emoticon for “Happy” looks like this :-)/:) while the Japanese version looks like this (^_^).

Do you use these emotions or others in your emails?

Here are some examples:

(^_^) happy

(((º Д º ;))) scared

(-´´-;) problems

(>_<) angry

(?_?) confused

(-.-)zzZ sleepy

(^ _^;) embarrassed

(^O^) very happy

(T_T) sad

I'm Dreaming Of A Fat Christmas

It was pasko Eve. Selena sat yet on her head, sipping slow eggnog.

She looked at the cute bangka hanging on the pasko puno and sighed. Last year, alex had hung it there, just before they looked at each other conversely and then fell into each other's arms and stood each other's hand.

If only I hadn't been so pretty, Selena thought, pouring a funny amount of ram into her eggnog. Then alex might not have got so stupid and left me all alone at pasko time. She wiped away a fast tear and held her head in her hand.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and...

Another problem thats spreading on Fanpop. The problem is that people keep reporting people for dumb reasons. For example my friend some people reported her because she didnt agree with them and thats wrong. Like what happened to ''We are a big fanpop family''?. That doesnt even matter anymore does it ? Just when somebody makes you mad or doesnt agree with your point of view you just ulat them and thats just a whole bunch of bullshit. Like for real handle reporting responsibly if someone makes you mad keep going on with life if someone doesnt agree with your view point just accept dont ulat thm. Because we are a big family and we dont ulat or block family we care and ipakita pag-ibig for them and YES we all argue its natural but just to ulat someone is taking it too far

Ring a Ring a Rosies,
a pocket full of posies
ATISHOO ATISHOO, we all fall down

Known to be a song about a ring of roses, little children pag-awit in a row, then you sneeze and you fall down. Did you ever play that game as a young child? Hold hands and dance in a circle?

Now for the reality.

This nursery rhyme is about the Black Plague.

Ring a ring a rosies - you used to have large pinky red circles on your skin, this is how you knew you had the plague.

A pocket full of posies - People used to hold posies up to their nose to keep the smell of death away. They also believed that it would keep the plague away. (didn't work)

Atishoo Atishoo we all fall down - you know what THAT means? if not that, people would sneeze and cough and you'd know that OHMYGOD WERE DYING! And you'd all fall down (basically, you've popped your clogs)

Some people think it is a very, haunting, creepy song if sung in a certain way other than the cheerful way.

Randomness lol.
