End of Part 4:

Jane's POV:

Hordes of other children, all around the same age, flanked her on either side. They surged toward us, but no matter how hard we tried, they wouldn't be incapacitated.

Something was blocking our powers.

Alec stood beside me still; he was concentrating just as hard on the children as I was.

Then, before I could comprehend what was going on, they sweeped Alec up and took him away.

"No!" I yelled, trying harder than I ever had before to use my power on someone. But it didn't work.

I was nagyelo with horror as the children carried my brother away...

Part 6:

Jane's POV:

He was gone. Alec was gone. My legs buckled beneath me. The pain was too much to handle. It weighed down on me; my head and shoulders sagged.

What am I going to do? I thought.

After a few tortured minutes, my agony filled mind realised the course of action I would have to take. I had to tell Aro. I couldn't do anything to save my brother without his help.

So, though every movement seemed impossible, I got to my feet and walked slowly up the stone steps.

Then, a heavy weight hit my back. I spun around, knocking it off my back, whatever it was. It fell to the floor. I grabbed it, lifting it up sa pamamagitan ng it's neck.

It was a small boy. Another vampire child. He bared his teeth at me, his blood red eyes burning like apoy with the desire to kill.

But I held him at arms length, crushing his neck in a vice like grip.

"You. Are. Not. Going. To. Get. Away. With. This." I growled, squeezing his neck tighter until he squealed in fury and pain. "We will wipe you out. Every. Last. One!"

Then I marched into the castle, still gripping the child.

I ran down the corridors, until I was nearly at the room Aro was in. I could hear Demetri and Felix in there, too.

"A problem? How is that?" Aro was asking in a slightly amused and befuddled tone.

Then I burst through the doors. Aro, Demertri and Felix turned to look at me.

"They're everywhere, Master!" I announced. "The immortal children! And they're about to reveal us! Reveal us all!"

Aro's expression was appalled, as he finally seemed to put two and two together.

"Well, then, we must solve this problem presented to us." He decided, and began to march out of the room.

The pain returned to my thoughts as I realised he only knew one part of the problem.

"Jane, dear one, what is it that's upsetting you?" Aro asked, his voice gentle.

I looked up at him. I knew that all my agony must be ipinapakita on my face, because Aro's eyes widened a little in shock.

"It's Alec, Master. They took him away."

There was a beat of silence.

"How?" Aro breathed.

I held my hand out to him. He took it and began pagbaba my thoughts as I started crying. I hadn't cried in all my many years as a vampire.

When Aro released my hand, he knew everything. He also knew that if we never got Alec back, I would never do anything again.

I wouldn't fight. I wouldn't go on missions. I wouldn't use my power. I wouldn't do a thing.

Because me and Alec were one. Without him, I was nothing.

End of Part 22:

Jane’s POV:

I was strangely sane now; the depression that consumed me before seemed to have passed. I knew it would return, though, as soon as I thought of Alec or let myself waver from my solid path. The solid path, so long before, which was now nearing its end…

I threw myself into a run again, speeding out of the city and across grassy hills. I didn’t know where I was going, but I knew where I was going to end up: at peace.

But so, so alone…

Or, maybe, he’d be waiting there for me? I hoped so. If he wasn’t, I hoped I wouldn’t have to wait long. If there was something...

End of Part 26:

Lucinda’s POV:

“Mistress, we all went out to hunt. When we returned, Mistress, the prisoner was gone.”

“I see,” she whispered. The darker patch moved from left to right – Mistress was pacing.

“We would punish you for this, but… well, it’s rather convenient.”

I wasn’t sure I heard her right. Quiet, confused mumblings passed through the group. I wasn’t alone in my bewilderment, then. How was it convenient? And what was with the ‘we’?

“I would like you all to meet my new acquaintance. He has a task for you.”

Then, out of the shadows, stepped someone...

Part 17:

Jane’s POV:

My hand dropped my side; I had no strength to hold it up myself. Like a puppet, I stood motionless and limp. My eyes, watching Aro, were the only things that moved. I tried not to think of what had happened, but I could erase the memory of Alec being taken from my mind… his silence, his desperate expression, his fear… his eyes, emptying of feeling as he was carried farther and farther away…

I felt like weeping, but I couldn’t. Trapped within my own body, I could do nothing except hope and yearn and remember things I longed to forget, things I wished had never happened....

End of Part 19:

Marcus’ POV:

Caius marched in, letting the door ugoy shut behind him. Always one for the dramatic entry was Caius. He would march into anything, and sum it up in one sentence, making it so simple, when it in fact wasn’t. I wondered what he would come up with this time.

“Well,” he sinabi firmly. “This is quite a shocking and distressing situation we find ourselves in.”

“It certainly is, my friend,” Aro replied. “And I was hoping we could put our heads together and come up with some way to solve it.”

“I can only see one way to bring Jane back,” Didyme said...

End of Part 20:

Alec’s POV:

I walked down the corridor, until I heard voices. I pushed the heavy wooden doors open, and on seeing Aro, Caius, Marcus and Didyme gathered in the middle of the room, I grinned. They looked so shocked; it was hilarious.

“Where’s Jane?” I asked, coming to a stop when I reached them.

No one answered me.

“Well?” I demanded. “Where is she?”

Aro cleared his throat, looking uncomfortable. “We don’t know. She left, and she’s not planning on returning.”

“No! No, no, no!” I shouted, my shock fuelling my anger, my despair calming my panic. I was...

End of Part 9:

Aro’s POV:

"Felix, could you go and find Caius and Marcus and tell them I would like to speak with them here?" I asked him. He nodded.

"Yes, Master," He replied, turning and leaving the room.

"Thank you, Felix."

I hoped that either Caius or Marcus had even faintest idea of what we could do to save Alec, for I had no clue. I tried to hide my hopelessness from Jane, but I knew she saw it, and I knew it upset her further.

Part 18:

Aro’s POV:

The silence in the room was deafening, like a heavy blanket, stifling me. Watching Jane’s eyes, as they changed, I knew how important it...

End of Part 3:

Alec's POV:

There were crowds, hoards, of children pourign in through the gates of our city. But, they weren't human. These children had red eyes. They were vampires.

"Vampire...children..." I murmured. I thought about it, still not sure that I had really seen what I thought I had. "Immortal..." I mused. "Immortal children."

I looked around to meet Jane's eyes. She looked as confused and panicked as I felt. What was going on here?

We had never seen anything quite like this...who...
