The Adventureland reviews are here, and they’re not (coconut) shy to tell you what they think. Looks like we might have a minor classic on our hands.
The ‘Adventureland’ theme park is actually a real place in Long Island, New York, and the movie is based on the director’s own experiences working there as a teenager.

“The thing to know about “Adventureland” is not just that it has goals above its station but that it actually achieves them. With the help of a talented cast and a potent soundtrack, it takes that most overdone of contemporary genres, the coming-of-age story, and made it engaging, bittersweet and even fun.”
Hollywood Reporter -
“While packed with atmospheric details and particulars, it’s universal teen theme reaches beyond any specific generation or place. In the ongoing tradition of “American Graffiti” and “Fast Times as Ridgemont High,” “Adventureland” will be a high grader at the boxoffice and in rental.”

“Director Greg Mottola, who made the rather wonderful Superbad, is back now with a sweeter story, madami quietly funny. …What surprised me was how much I admired Kristen Stewart, who in Twilight, was playing below her grade level. Here is an actress ready to do important things. [Together with the rest of the cast, she] makes Adventureland madami real and madami touching than it may sound.”
Adventureland currently holds a 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 74 reviews.

Oh that’s cool Loreal. The director originally planned to shoot at the actual Adventureland but when he went back it had changed so much since his youth.

Saw it last night, it’s fantastic. Not laugh out loud all the time, that’s not the point. It’s actually a damn good character drama with comedy thrown in.
IT’s SO well made, I was really not prepared for how good it is.

i could not wait to see this movie. altho the previews that came on before the movie looked really boring and stupid, i kind of was worring that this movie was going to be about sex drugs and dropping the f bomb every five seconds, but it wasnt. altho my dad sinabi he gets tired of pelikula about sex and drugs he didnt like this one cause of all of it. but i swear i thought it was clean, unlike superbad (which was a great movie). i pag-ibig this movie i will for sure buy it on dvd. altho it only made 6 million on its oping weekend, because it wasnt prviewed alot on tv. it was great, funny, sweet, and cute. this, twilight, nick and norah’s infinite playlist and sexdrive are my fave movies. kristen was great, so was jesse. but this movie left me wish i was in 1987 and working at a fun park. its like high school now, its got drama, sex, drugs, and cheating. but it takes place at adventurland. adventurland left me wanting to have and adventure!

Kristen Stewart protrays emily well. Thought, thats the same way she acts in all her pelikula and the same way she acts in real life. She cannot act. It was a good movie, but might have been a classic if it had a better actres portraying Emily.

There are SO many great 80′s songs to choose from and I was shocked that even tho I graduated from high school in 1988, I didn’t recognize most of them!

I feel scammed! Horrible, slow, drawn-out, who-cares-about-the-characters movie.
Also, where is all the big 80′s hair, shoulder-pads, new wave hair do’s?
Kristen Stewart looks like she just walked out of 2009 and is pretending to be in 1987!

just woke up from seeing the movie…did not get an 80′s feel from it at all …and these guys were college grads not high school….Jesse’s character was going to grad school at Columbia…being 22 for real in 1987, I did not see me at all, or any of my friends, or anyone I even remotely knew…70′s, maybe…except for the corny picks on the soundtrack…where was bruce? and the Dead?..
