It had been a year.

Been a taon since Jasper had returned to Alice.

Been a taon since Alice had found out Jasper wasn't dead.

It had only taken five minutos to decide to run away. Run away from all the war, all the conflicts, all the confusion... just so they could be together, just them, forever.

But, of course, nothing lasts forever.

In their meadow, Jasper kissed her, tenderly, softly, as if it were their last kiss. He always kissed her that way. In case, one day, they really would never halik again.

He grazed his hand along her collarbone and groaned. She smiled, leaned her forehead on his, and looked up at him. He leaned in for another halik but she jumped up so suddenly, she sent him on his back, looking dazed up at her.

"I guess you'll have to catch me first," she squealed and rushed off.

He smiled to himself, thrilled that he could finally call her his but disappointed that no one was around to see it. Ryan had died. He had died the same time Jasper had supposedly died. Jasper had told Sophie himself. He had always believed that Alice would always be the first person to go to, but Sophie seemed like the right thing. Ryan had died. She didn't deserve to hear it over some megaphone.

"Hey!" Alice's chirp called again. "You coming or do I have to catch myself?"

He chuckled to himself, reminding himself once madami how lucky he was, leaped up and ran after her.

No matter what happened, no matter how much heartbreak waited for them, Jasper knew at least one thing for certain:

He would pag-ibig Alice forever.

And right now, that was enough.
