Why do these selfish celebs take risks of reproducing at such an old age? According to geneticists, a woman over 35 and a man over 40 years old have a very high risk of producing a child with numerous abnormalities. How selfish can one be?

@selfish: that stat is only true of women over 35 who have never had a baby before. a woman who has had children before, even if she’s like halle berry (47) is less at risk than a 1st time mom over 40

@Janet you are right on that and age doesn’t guarantee problems with the baby either abnormalities/disabilities can happen to a baby from a mother of any age Barbra Bach was 25 when her son Gianni was born with cerebral palsy in 1972 and her was her second child she already had a daughter Francesca

Selfish….your comment is one of the most ignorant I’ve ever read…I’m 39 and expecting my first child…wanting to be a mother isn’t selfish…in fact it’s very selfless. Not everyone meets the right person in their 20s…should they forego having a child because the chance comes later in life? There are always risks…I have many friends who had children in their 20s and have had children with Down syndrome, autism, cp and spina bifida..there are no guarantees of a healthy child even when you are younger. I hope if you do have children you teach them to be kind and respectful instead of being rude and making ignorant comments like the one above!!

Do you think nature cares when you meet the right father for your kids or when you finally decide that your career can wait now? You are all so stupid. Thousands of years women have kids from the age of fifteen (you can guess twice why we start to have our period so young) and have a menopause from the ge of 40. But last decade bunch of ambicious cows come and say this is an avolution, we can have babies at the age of grandmas. Listen to yourself. You put your own needs before the nature. That’s not selfish? Think about this. Our only purpose on this planet is to reproduce ourself to keep human race alive. You are not special. You are just one female who should have kids. If you miss your time your life was absolutely useless. That’s raw natural law. I don’t care about this psychological and social crap about self realization. It’s all useless. If there’s a catastrophy we would take couple women and men to reproduce and that would be basically all we would do. We would take selfies, computers, cellphones, iPads, gold, diamonds…we would take the one think that matters the most-our fertility. Guess why do we have instincts such as sexual one. Because that matters the most! And yes, I’m a scientist. And this racional thinking is very useful. You cannot change nature. You only think you can cheat it.

WTH is wrong with you people?!!! You see pictures of a happy pregnant woman and all you can say is “omg she’s too old to have a baby!How selfish!”

I had my son at 25 sure it’s a perfect age but in no way did it mean there were no risks for abnormalities for him, he was born without any thank god, but my Mom had 3 miscarriages at my age in between she had my older sister, after the last miscarriage they told her there was hardly any chance of her having a baby again… Then she found out 5 years later she was pregnant with me which was an unexpected surprise and that pregnany was the easiest one she had ever had… She was 38.
