I've limited this to characters who I, myself, have more often come across hate rants about than people who actually like them, so if anyone disagrees with my statistics, there's my only argument.

The Hetalia girls, Takano (why do people hate her??), Namie, Excalibur (????), Alois... I don't get the hate for them. But SHIRLEY?! I know everyone has their own opinion and whatnot... but she became one of my favorite CG characters after the whole memory scene!

^I don't know if you've seen the second season of Higurashi or not, but... there's your answer. Her story in the second season and the way she had been developed was what made her my favorite in Higurashi, though. ;-;

I agree about Shirley. Maybe she was the TEENSIEST BIT annoying in, I don't know, two 30 second-long scenes, but after the way her character was used in R2 I consider her to be a very beautiful character. No one should hate her. >.<

I don't get most of these. They are really disliked? I can only understand the hate on Alois, Misa and Miyo, but Shirley? Or Yuno in my sake. Wow I'm very confused now.
