I thought the idea was laughable myself. There is no way I'd give my address to be posted on a website for all and sundry.

We are safe anyway, debs. This is for America. It would not wash in Europe. I think.

I can't see it flying anywhere. They can try to get it passed but I don't see it actually happening.

Everyone posting illegal vids would kinda be screwed then. And then no more watching movies and tv shows online! Ahh! No, I'm against the idea. And anyway - there are millions of websites out there. How would they ever fine them all?

We'd still be able to watch TV shows, we'd just have to watch them on the official sites.

But yes, this is silly. Every attempt to apply regional law to the internet is silly.

in the UK you can't watch a lot from the official sites though

Just to be precise: while Kentucky is in America, this legislation could only cover the United States, not all of America. Even if one is a nutjob and thinks that there's some truth to the idea of a North American Union, that's still just the one continent, not the whole hemisphere.

But, as I wrote earlier, the whole thing is moot. Politicians the world over routinely fail to understand that the internet is a global phenomenon to which regional law cannot be effectively applied.

Edit: My favorite line from the little blurb: "Representative Couch says enforcing this bill if it became law would be a challenge." Hee-hee!

This sort of thing makes me ashamed to be American. I mean US, not Canada or Mexico. Seriously.
