Our December/January cover girl Annabella Avery Thorne, better known as Bella Thorne, may only be 17-years-old, but she has already built an impressive empire and made a name for herself as an actress, singer, dancer, and author.

Her Disney connections, however, run far deeper. In fact, Thorne\'s parents named her after one infamous Disney character: Belle from

Beauty And The Beast. “I have had wonderful Disney experiences,” she said.

This gorgeous Cuban-American actress doesn’t speak Spanish — although she did as a child. In fact, her first language was Spanish, but when she entered grade school, none of her classmates spoke the language. Because of her dyslexia, she dropped Spanish to focus on learning English.

Tragically, Thorne’s father died in a car accident when she was just nine-years-old. To pay tribute to her Cuban daddy, she memorialized him at her quinceañera. “My father always wanted me to have a quinceañera,” she said. “So tonight not only am I honoring him, but everyone here is, too.” The actress paid tribute to her Cuban roots with

, but she didn\'t score the role because of her impressive skills on the dance floor. After she scored the role as CeCe, she dedicated herself to six-months of intense dance training so she could be ready to take on a role that revolved around her ability to shake it up! 

Bella contributes to countless charities — including one that hits close to home, the Dyslexia Foundation. Thorne, who has Dyslexia and played a Dyslexic character on

, credits her mother as her biggest supporter since she was diagnosed with the learning disability in the first grade. The strong, hardworking teenager has never let her Dyslexia define her, and she reads voraciously despite it.

“I have a bookshelf with all of my favorite books," she said. "I used to really read a lot, but now I have a lot of scripts that I have to read all the time.”

These days, she encourages other students with similar struggles by visiting schools and speaking with them about Dyslexia and bullying.

 to kiss her on-again, off-again (on-again?) boyfriend, Tristan Klier. “Tristan was not a relationship guy before me,”

she explained. “On our first date, he thought I was just going to be like the other girls he had met who would always give it up and kiss him right away.”

Thorne taught her future boyfriend a lesson in patience: “I waited six weeks — I had to make sure he was in it to win.”
