This post is going to be somewhat of a challenge, but the Blairstans in us are compelled to write it anyway. Watching Blair this season has been similar to watching a train wreck or the movie “Sybil” but we pag-ibig her regardless. We understand why some fans are mourning her and others don’t want anything to do with her, but we don’t think Blair should be written off. We think she has some good reasons for pagganap the way she is, and we refuse to believe she is Nawawala to us.

Blame the writers.

Although the writers are unaware of the fact that we’re fighting or maybe they’re not, we so are. However, just because we don’t like them right now doesn’t mean we don’t pag-ibig them. Think of it like this: If we’re the Serena to the writers’ Blair, we’re confused and hurt right now because we don’t understand what they’re doing and it’s like we don’t even know them anymore, you know? But looking back, they’ve been good to us madami often than bad. Very good, in fact. They gave us this:

and this:

So though we may be on a timeout from the GG writers right now, we still have faith in them and trust them to eventually make the right decisions. There is a point to this rant in case you were wondering. Since Blair is a fictional character and therefore, not an autonomous being, we feel completely justified in blaming the writers. Especially when they themselves confirmed on twitter that we are supposed to be confused sa pamamagitan ng Blair right now and that there is a reason for the disconnect. THUS, they are Pagsulat her as a hot mess ON PURPOSE. We aren’t cool with this because it’s painful to watch, but it makes us feel hopeful that the master plan is a good one. Which brings us to our susunod point.

If you were Blair, you’d be a mental case too sa pamamagitan ng this point.

Seriously. Blair has had a rough season. She might be about tied with Chuck at this point in terms of loss and bad things happening to her.

As we’ve sinabi madami than once in nakaraan posts, we think that Chuck and Blair have stood test of time. They’ve survived and surpassed things far madami threatening than Humphrey. But we are slightly in fear of what is to come for the Serena/Blair relationship. Both girls have betrayed each other in various ways and levels (this IS the UES after all) but never to a level that they couldn’t come back from. Take, for example, when Serena slept with Nate pre-show. First, Nate was not the pag-ibig of Blair’s life. Second, they were 15 years old at the time and surely, we and Serena are not the only ones who remember doing really stupid things at that age. We do see an obvious parallel between Season One Nate and Season Five Dan, and we all remember how that worked out for Nate. So while it seems that Blair might be temporarily choosing Dan over Serena, obviously we must keep in mind that Blair is currently suffering from psychosis and ultimately:

Blair has been mostly awesome for four seasons, therefore we have hope that she will be again.

For one thing, Blair has been very much alienated from the people who have kept her grounded all these years. We don’t think it’s a coincidence that Blair is pagganap completely OOC and not-okay while being sequestered in Brooklyn, shortly after having been stuck in Monaco (kinda sorta). Blair was at her height of awesomeness prior to the segundo half of Season Four. Feisty, determined, and strong, Blair knew what she wanted and had an agenda to help her get exactly that.
It cannot be mere coincidence that Blair began her downward spiral of indecisiveness and settling when both Chuck and Serena were removed from her immediate periphery. Insert Dan Humphrey/the White Knight of Brooklyn and an actual Prince of Monaco who promises to make your dreams come true, and you have two people actively removing your agency and responsibility to take control of your life.

History has a tendency to repeat itself and if history has told us anything, Blair Waldorf loves (and will do anything for) Chuck bass and Serena van der Woodsen.

Now, we’re not saying that people don’t grow out of mga kaibigan and lovers, even family members at times, but it doesn’t appear to be “growth” we’re seeing. We’re seeing a frightened and delirious little girl making terrible choices and trusting people she shouldn’t, while pushing away and treating badly the people who see that something is wrong, and who truly want to help her. This seems to be a pattern with Blair.
We have seen many, many parallels between Season Five and Season Two, and let us not forget that when mourning the death of her dream of Yale, we saw Blair pushing away Chuck and Serena, turning instead to people she was less emotionally invested in (ie. Carter and Nate). Chuck and Serena didn’t give up on her then, and they certainly won’t now. Especially Chuck, who has proven that he would do anything for this crazy woman. It took Blair turning to the “easy” choice (poor Nate) to realize that “fairytales end for a reason.” We think in this case, Dan is Season Two Nate. We don’t think it’s a coincidence that Blair is at rock bottom and feeling alone at the same time she is developing “feelings” for Dan. The problem is that there is madami “collateral damage” with Blair turning to Dan versus someone else, but since Gossip Girl IS Blair and Serena, they will get through it once Blair comes to her senses.
We do not believe in tit-for-tat so it would be pointless for us to point out any nakaraan mistakes made sa pamamagitan ng Serena or Chuck or anyone else really, but since we are speaking of Blair, maybe it would be helpful to remember the times she carried them in the past, particularly, Chuck, who understands that pag-ibig does not just disappear. Blair and Chuck have both done things they’re not proud of, which is one of the main things we pag-ibig about them: they’re both imperfect people who are perfect for each other.

Since being completely removed from all decision making, Blair has fallen to a low point, where she doesn’t even know what she wants in life anymore. ibingiay that Blair is at rock bottom, we maintain that she has nowhere to go, but up. After Chuck hit rock bottom in S4, he’s spent this entire season redeeming himself and becoming everything that Blair ever wanted. Blair now needs to play catch up to Chuck, so they can be equals, as foreshadowed in 5.14. Blair has already shown some responsibility for her lack of proactivity over Seasons Four and Five sa pamamagitan ng asserting that no one else is allowed to buy her dowry. This woman is long overdue for some control and decision making. And who will Blair choose? If history is any indication, the Season Five finale will mirror every other season finale, with Blair choosing Chuck. Will Chuck say “yes”? That is the question. Answer: Of course.

Blair stepped out of the elevator and clutched her handbag as she made her way into the main foyer of the penthouse.

She had come despite the fact that he'd ruined everything for her that evening, despite the fact that he was dangerously drunk and out of control, despite the fact that her fiancé had insisted she stay away from him.

She needed to do this in person, regardless of how agonizingly difficult it was going to be for both of them.

She entered the darkened room and looked around, confused as to where he might be.

"You came," came a voice from...

“I think the draw for me with Chuck and Blair was how unique they were to television. I admit to loving a very specific prototype couple before CB came along: the bad boy and the good girl. I liked the cliché redemption arc that always brought tears to my eyes. There was a comfort in knowing exactly how those couples and stories would play out, so I was reluctant to jump into the water with Chuck and Blair. He wasn’t just a bad boy, he was a bad, bad boy. He did despicable things and felt no remorse. And Blair… Well, Blair was the bad girl. She was the one you root against in romantic...
