I feel the need to preface this. First of all, I don’t write poetry. I’ve never been even remotely decent at it but I sort of like the way part of this came out. It was written while sitting outside for about six hours while I was trying to come up with anything at all for Ariel’s Spuffy tagahanga fiction event. As far as rhyme scheme - let’s pretend it’s very, very free verse ;F Enjoy.

Dance Card

Came to town
To slay a Slayer
To please my Dark Princess
Cure her of her deathly ills
While on my newest conquest

A Slayer’s blood is rich and ripe
Just like the girl herself
Succulent and Sweet, ruby red on my teeth
Her throat a chalice
From which I yearn to drink

Third one I’ve fought
The third shall be slain
Her body - so slowly - I will drain
My hands will balutin around her throat
And hold her tight for my dessert

Her town is small
It’s grounds cursed black
For on the Mouth of Hell this town doth sat
The darkest light for the malevolent moths
Guarded sa pamamagitan ng the Chosen Bint

I found her at a local haunt
Graceful, sleek, and I’ll admit - taunt
Her body shimmied and gently swayed
A shapely, well formed ball of light
My fangs and body ache at the sight

I pag-ibig my Dark Goddess
And for her I would dust
Her pag-ibig is my un-beating heart
Her touch, my soulless ambrosia
But still I look with hungry eyes

I watch her ilipat with a warrior’s grace
madami and madami I wasn’t a taste
Carnal desire of flesh and fang play inside my head
To kama and bite, to hold too tight
Conquer her complete

The Prophet’s Man goes to dine
Plucking a young ripe ubas from the willing vine
I’ve send him to perish and I feel no guilt
Only the surge for the battle, the thrill for the fight
Called sa pamamagitan ng her calling, drawn to the fray, off she goes into the night

I stand in the shadows as the dance begins
The girl is a flash of strength, grace, and sin
She glows in the shadow, pirouettes in the din
Her puso the beat, the pavement the tune
To this duet - over too soon

It’s finished fast in dust and ash
Her weapon matulin and true
It’s whittled point doling out dues.
I want to clap, cheer and even, perhaps, leer
From the shadows, it’s then I appear

The Big Bad in black
With a cock & swagger stride I introduce myself
I set the petsa for dancing, dining, and death
The moon will be high, Rituals right
Yet I cannot wait for the fight

Her death or mine
It matters naught
A Slayer like her deserves to be fought
Tooth & nail, stake & axe
For ruby droplets or dusty ash

As the dollies dine with Mummy dearest
And the bird sings mutely I wait
For time doth crawl waiting for the band to tune
Calling me dance card to waltz
To spin and turn, dip, and twirl

I sit with the Prince
As his flock chants and murmurs
My fleece a different color than the lot
I ponder their failure, weight my success
Rebellion shines anew

Sod Saturday and ritual
Sod it all to Hell
My fangs ache
My fists clench
Time to get off the bloody bench.

Time to dance.
