This may sound stuiped but how do you get your cat to like you ?

My cat has been ignoring me and going to my sister lately. But my sister dosn't even pay her barly any atention :(

my cat used to be my brothers, i only met it twice before I got it and he would run away. When I got him he hid for 10 days then slowly started coming toward me, I ignored him until he was comfortable enough to come up to me and sit on my lap, now he doesn't leave me alone lol
