Turner Classic pelikula has a listahan called "The Essentials" If you dont have the access to the telebisyon station, you may be able to get the listahan on the web! Good Luck. the Classics are the BEST!

I also would recommend looking through some AFI lists.

For example, their tuktok ten from link is as follows, and it's easy agree that they are all essential viewing:

As you start watching, you can get an idea what kind of pelikula you like, what genres, what actors, what eras... Then you can look at madami specific lists. Like link, or link. Or maybe you want to watch madami pelikula that have Katharine Hepburn... or silent films from the '20s ! who know's :) there are so many wonderful films out there

etc.

The best thing to do is watch an old movie u like, then research your fav character in it and see madami old movies, TV shows etc.
Some good actors I like are Kathryn Grayson, Gene Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Carolyn Jones, Elvis Presley (In his pelikula from the fifties), Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, etc. Hope that helps.
