The susunod time I see or hear SE fans shouting out that Delena will not last because their relationship is physical and simply fuelled sa pamamagitan ng lust, I will suffer an intense brain haemorrhage. For how much longer are they going to ride that extremely irksome wave?? Have they not paid attention to TVD over the years, and seen that Delena’s romance formed out of a deep, emotional bond and friendship? I don’t know how much longer I can tolerate SE fans’ incessant denial of the Delena pag-ibig sa pamamagitan ng continually shrieking this incredibly stupid reason as to why the DE romance will not last. They’re honestly beginning to sound like a broken record, or bad losers, rather.

I am an extremely passionate DE fan, but I will accept the truth even if I don’t like it, and if I believed and saw that Delena are merely sexual, I would admit it – but they are not, so such an admission is completely unnecessary. It is very obvious that DE are much madami sexual than SE, but does that mean that DE are purely sexual? Of course not. It simply means that Damon and Elena are drawn to each other much madami than Stefan and Elena ever were. Just because a couple happens to be very sexual does not mean that the pag-ibig diminishes in the process. Does it have to be one or the other? A couple can pag-ibig each other intensely, and at the same time (and often because of this) be incredibly attracted to each other. Damon and Elena are magnetised to each other, there is no doubt about that, but they are also passionately in pag-ibig with each other. Passionately in pag-ibig with each other. There is so much passion in their relationship that it always culminates into a natural and beautiful union which is intercourse. There is no shame in expressing your pag-ibig for the person that you pag-ibig through sex – it is called “making love” for a reason. And let’s not pretend that sexual intercourse is the only way that Delena have expressed their pag-ibig for each other. Their pag-ibig has become evident throughout TVD, and their pag-ibig is proven through their absolute acceptance of each other. Their pag-ibig is an unconditional one, a pag-ibig that developed through many hardships, hindrances, and pain – a pag-ibig that grew stronger because of all of these aspects, and a pag-ibig that changed both individuals for the better. Does this describe a relationship that is “merely sexual”?
I need not remind DE fans that Damon and Elena fell in pag-ibig BEFORE they consummated their relationship. When they finally had sex (after three and a half seasons almost), it was a passionate and beautiful climax to the feelings that had consumed both of them for a long time. And once the sirebond was discovered and their sex life was put on hold, did Delena lose interest in each other? Definitely not. On the contrary, they were drawn even closer together and their pag-ibig strengthened through that trying obstacle.

And now that it’s been revealed that Delena are having lots of “hot lovin’ sex” now that they are finally an official couple, SE fans are milking their “Delena is merely physical” excuse to its maximum.
I do suspect that the underlying reason for SE fans’ constant use of this excuse is because it just so happens to be that Delena are the sexual couple of the two (DE/SE). Had Stelena been even half as sexual as Delena is, then SE fans would not regard the Stelena relationship as “merely physical”, but rather as an “epic love” (their most annoying paglalarawan of the SE relationship). Delena’s sexual tension and chemistry is undeniable – a significant fact that SE fans cannot stand, and therefore will try to wave it off as “lust”. It’s easier for SE fans to believe that Delena’s relationship is based on superficial elements than face the truth – that Delena’s relationship developed significantly throughout the series and has culminated in a true pag-ibig so deep and intense that can never die, a pag-ibig that Elena described as being “the most real thing [she] [has] ever felt in [her] entire life”. There are many instances that justify that Delena’s relationship is not only physical and that it is a union of deep, unconditional love. To explain them all would be too time-consuming, so I shall only mention a few.
•    DE did not become a couple because they wanted to have sex – they were both in pag-ibig with each other when they finally consummated their relationship.
•    If their relationship was purely sexual, the sirebond drama should have destroyed their relationship as the sexual aspect of their relationship was non-existent after the discovery of the bond. Yet, Damon and Elena stuck together, overcame the bond, and Elena confessed her pag-ibig for Damon, thereafter becoming official with him.
•    Delena’s pag-ibig grew despite the fact that they WERE NOT EVEN A COUPLE and consequently had NO SEX (in seasons 3 and parts of 4).
•    The sirebond gave Damon the perfect opportunity to use the bond to his advantage and sleep with Elena. But did he misuse the bond? No, because Elena’s autonomy was madami important to him than having sex with her, AND because he loved her and didn’t want to sleep with Elena if there was a possibility that her sleeping with him was not entirely her desire or decision.
•    Did Elena lose interest in Damon after he refused to sleep with her once aware of her bond to him? No. In fact, she constantly tried to reassure him of her love, begged him not to leave her/send her way (4x08, 4x09), and expressed her pag-ibig for him once realising that she was in pag-ibig with him (4x10, reaffirming her pag-ibig in 4x23). Throughout all this, Delena had no sex, yet remained together throughout the rest of Season 4 (Elena’s humanity-less phase aside). If Delena’s relationship was only physical, their relationship would have died early on in Season 4, yet it only grew deeper and stronger.
•    Damon expressed his pag-ibig for Elena in Season 2, while Elena finally admitted her pag-ibig for Damon in Season 4...is this not enough proof that Delena are not merely physical? If you truly pag-ibig someone – as they clearly do – then your relationship can not only be “merely physical”, and the sex is only an expression of the deep pag-ibig you share with your lover. This happens to be the case with Delena, who have a lot of sex, yes, but their intimacy is borne out of their deep and intense pag-ibig for each other, NOT superficial factors.
There are many other mentionable instances but I shall not name them here in order to avoid an unbearably lengthy article.

I really don’t think I need to express in great detail why Delena are not merely physical – the entire TVD series does that for me. It is obvious through the Pagsulat of TVD that Delena were constructed to be a consuming and passionate pag-ibig with many facets, an intense relationship where sex is guaranteed to occur. To assume that Delena are simply sexual because they have a lot of sex would be beyond foolish because sex did not come first in their relationship – pag-ibig did. The fact that pag-ibig preceded sex provides definitive proof that Delena are not merely sexual, and are simply a very passionate couple – physically and emotionally – who are drawn to each other because of their feelings rather than their hormones.
If SE fans persist to use their overstated (and obtuse) excuse, it will prove that they remain in a state of denial in which Elena will only ever pag-ibig Stefan and never fell in pag-ibig with Damon, in which she is powerless to her body; it controlling her completely to the point that she cannot think or act for herself. Really, how much madami disillusioned can one get?
But sa pamamagitan ng all means, let them continue to live in their world of denial, while the rest of us watch the real world of TVD in which Damon and Elena fell in pag-ibig gradually over the course of TVD and found true pag-ibig with each other, in which their active sex life is completely justified sa pamamagitan ng the fact that they share a deep, passionate pag-ibig that – after four seasons – they are finally able to experience. They want to have a lot of sex? Let them; they’re in love, and if their true pag-ibig happens to consist of madami sex than the regular couple, I say kudos to them; it makes their lives all the madami ardent and exciting.
