I was going to make this pick when the trailer first came out but I decided I didn't even want to have this poster --> on my computer, 'cause yikes.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but the clips shown in the above video were more than enough to have me saying that this was in no way appropriate. Like those are actual, literal children and they way they were dancing in the clips that the youtuber (and other youtubers I watched) showed...

In all seriousness, there was... very gratuitous close-ups and questionable camerawork. Maybe I'm missing something but idk why you'd need to go to such lengths in what's apparently meant to be a critique of the hyper-sexualisation of children. Like "I'm dealing heroin, because I want people to see how bad heroin is"

But yeah, it's one thing to show distrubing content to postest something, like the J-Horror movie Suicide Club (which is in protest of the high suicide rate in Japan) or Korean movie Don't Cry Mama (about a mother avenging a rape victim). But another to do something like Cuties. Like in Don't Cry Mama the whole movie is framed as sad and disturbing and the actual rape scene was framed as dark and it was also shot in such a way that you know what happened but you don't see it from all angles.
While Cuties is literally angling the camera at their bits and butts. The music is 'sexy' and the framing is sexual. If they wanted to protest sexualizing children maybe they shouldn't have angled the cameras like that?

It's like passing child porn around to prove that someone is distributing it. Like you're part of the problem???

But it sure looks highly inappropriate... definitely seems like they have not done this 'critique' critically...

I've only seen snippets of it and only a few of those. That being said....I get they are trying to visualize how bad child sexualization is.....but that being said this sort of movie might be too "right in your face" for some people but if this was created by the French. One could argue "different culture so different methods of getting the same thing across?" Albeit not related. I watched a depressing European children's cartoon design to showcase life and death and issues animals have to go through but that show really didn't pull any punches and was more graphic than I expected it to be for a kids cartoon. Whatever their motives was. I can't say it was the best way to get the point across or maybe it was considering we are all talking about how inappropriate it is.

Tbh I feel like it would almost be offensive to the French to say that their culture condones that kind of stuff. As I said above, even if they were aiming to protest and raise awareness about this kinds of stuff; they approached it wrong imo.
For one thing, they didn't have to use actual eleven year olds. They could have cast someone 18+ if they could make 54 year old Shirley Henderson link like a young kid[/url] then then Cuties could have done the same. Cuties literally opened the door for actual pedophiles to get off to actual eleven year olds.

To me Cuties was like warning people about someone distributing child porn by showing them the pictures that are being distributed. Like at that point, you're part of the problem????

The parents and other associates involved should be stripped of their children, if any.

@zan As I said. Different viewpoint even if you argue one side. There's always another. But I will agree it definitely looks bad.
