So one day, I decided to leave the house in paghahanap of a doctor. I asked people around the village where I could find one, but nobody paid attention to a ten-year-old girl. I finally stood up on a barrel of dayami laying susunod to a horse and yelled, "My Papa needs help! Help! Help! Doctor! I need a doctor!!!"
Finally, a kind, old lady instructed me to Dr. Paul A. Olverman's home. It took me thirty minutos to walk to his house. When I arrived, I knocked on the door. A maid answered and went to go fetch Paul. He came and stood in the doorway.
"May I help you, little girl?" he asked with a toothy grin.
"Yes," I said, "my Papa has been wheezing for a week now, and I'd like for you to go see him."
The doctor chuckled.
"Silly girl," he sinabi " you must make an appointment with me first, before I see patients." He patted me on the head.
"Now run along, I'm sure your Papa is fine."
He shoved me out of the doorway, and before I could turn around and demand him to come, he shut the door. I then walked another thirty minutos home.
At hapunan that night, Lady Tremaine was curious on why I was out.
"Cinderella," she began, coldly, "where were you this afternoon? Skipping out on your stepsisters' musical performance? You should have been there. Where do you get your irresponsibility from? Your mother? "
I completely forgot. Anastasia and Drizzella had their monthly musical performance. Today they performed and I wasn't there to see it. Drizzella stuck her tongue out at me from across the table, while Anastasia smiled an evil smirk.
If my father was at the table, he would have smacked my stepsisters and scolded Lady Tremaine. But he was not there. He was resting in his room, wheezing his puso out.
