This is mostly inspired sa pamamagitan ng the link sa pamamagitan ng PrincessAyeka12. I thought it was really neat the way it gave a chance for people to talk about like interests as well as get to know the user better as a well-rounded person beyond just their DP favorites etc. So I hope you guys don't mind this artikulo and I'd pag-ibig to hear from you about what we do and/or don't have in common. :)

Behind the Screen Name: I pag-ibig pagbaba and Pagsulat so I wanted to pick a name that was very symbolic for me. I pag-ibig and strive for balance as I truly believe it is the key to life. My screenname was meant to represent the balance that I strive for.

"Layla" is an amazing rock track sa pamamagitan ng Derek & the Dominoes aka Eric Clapton. I saw a Ford commercial once as a child with this song and the song stuck in my head as this great American rock anthem for some reason. I also pag-ibig rock music. This represents my madami fun, spunky, outgoing and less traditional side.

"Stepford" is from the book and subsequent films "Stepford Wives". I think that story was such a good tale of caution for women and madami relevant today in American society than even when it was written (at the beginning of the American feminism movement in the 60s-70s). I think it's important for women to not abandon their femininity, take it for granted or exploit it. I think it's important for women to remember the positive power that a wife/mother can bring to a family and society. This represents my madami feminine, maternal and madami traditional side.

Together, "Layla Stepford" makes up the balance of how I see myself: a modern traditional woman.

Age: Mid 20s.

Relationship Status: Happily Married to my very own Prince Charming<3

Country: USA: Which I see could be like 4 countries-
(1) West Coast with the Passive-Aggressive Liberal Culture (where I live)
(2) Mid-West with the Friendly and Balanced to Conservative Culture
(3) South with the Religious and Extremely Conservative and Traditional Culture
(4) East Coast with the Straightforward-Aggressive Liberal Culture
*Note: I am not trying to be offensive here but give an accurate opinion based on my experiences and point of view since this artikulo is for getting to know me. :)

Ethnicity: Mixed English, Japanese, Native American, Polish, Spanish/Portuguese, Polynesian, Italian, Libyan, German, Russian, Indian and Irish.

Childhood/Youth: Long story short, my mother was a woman who embodied everything about the sexual revolution spawned sa pamamagitan ng the feminists, as was her mother. Both of them had 4 children sa pamamagitan ng 3 different men. My mother and father were never in a relationship, ever, but I'm here anyways. I am the oldest from my mother with 3 younger half-siblings as well as the oldest from my father with 2 younger half-siblings.

Mom's Side: I was my mother's daughter, mother, friend, partner, confidante, etc. My mother got welfare and used that taxpayer money to party and drink all weekend. She'd be gone all night and asleep all day. Since I was the oldest, I matured very quickly and started raising myself and siblings and even my mother a bit. I walked to and from school everyday sa pamamagitan ng myself and often stopped to pick up my younger sibling, the 2nd oldest on the way tahanan (and my mother would pick up the littler ones and bring them tahanan later). I semi-often cooked dinner, helped my siblings with their homework, gave them baths and read/played with them before kama time. Because of this, I have great appreciation for real mothers and high standards for parenting. The way I see it, if I could do as well as I did as young as I did sa pamamagitan ng simply choosing to be selfless and consistent, then no woman should become a mother (in free countries like USA) unless she is willing to be selfless for her children. Best way to describe my life and relationship with my mother is Rapunzel and Mother Gothel except mine was worse and didn't adopt me.

(My mother's mother is the reyna of Hearts from Wonderland. Totally cruel and vicious, part of the feminism movement in America in the 60s-70s, hated men and now is alone and mapait with nothing but her nasty attitudes and memories of youth to keep her company. Her husband who loved her dearly died alone when she refused to divorce him as well as refused to be with him. He never stopped loving her as he was a good man and was never allowed to ilipat on since she wouldn't try to work things out with him nor divorce him. (He was only in his 50s and diabetic.)

Dad's Side: My father was a traditional man with traditional nakakita and was exploited for this not only sa pamamagitan ng mother but the 2nd woman he had a child with (who also had 4 children sa pamamagitan ng 3 different men, coincidentally). This woman who exploited him also abused me as a child and taught her 2 daughters to do the same. She had 2 sons: 1 of which I got along with and actually tried to protect me when he was around and the other 1 of which didn't like me and always tried to fight/argue with me. I was often the compromiser here because I was the outsider with less personal investment. I also learned like Sinderella did, how to make the best of the situation sa pamamagitan ng learning how to compromise and find compromises for others. My father had to work long hours to pay to feed all 6 mouths (and 7 if I were there) so the abuse always occurred while he was working. Best way to describe my life at my father's is this scene from Cinderella:
"Mother! Oh, Mother, Mother! Mother! You did it!
You did it on purpose! Mother! Oh, Mother, Mother, Mother! She put it there! A big ugly mouse... under my teacup!... Cinderella! Yes, Stepmother. (Are you gonna get it!) Close the door, Cinderella. Come here. Oh, please, you don't think-- Hold your tongue! Now... It seems we have time on our hands. But I was only trying to-- Silence!"
I hear a lot of people criticize Sinderella for not doing enough but they seem to always forget this part. Sinderella does try to stick up for herself but Lady Tremaine refuses to let her. This was my life at my father's house. The sisters blamed me for everything that went wrong since I was there, even getting pleasure out of it, and the stepmother figure (dad's unmarried girlfriend whom he proposed to but she strung along to use him and leave him) was madami than happy to blame me, punish me and insult me. I often did try to speak up for myself until I realized it only made the punishments worse as it gets contrived as being "back-talking" aka madami reason for madami punishments.

(My father's parents were the Fa family from Mulan. His parents were the 1 positive family example I had. Their traditional values had served them well as they are still together after 60+years. They've only ever been married to each other and had 3 children together with only each other. This was the example of all my childhood "family" examples that I chose to follow.)

So pangkalahatang you can see I've had a very Disney-life growing up which is probably why I'm so obsessed with Disney and why it means so much to me! :D

Personality & Values: I'm a Taurus and that pretty much does describe me pretty well. I am reliable, patient, practical, devoted, responsible and stable. I can also be stubborn and my spunkiness can turn into feistiness. I don't like inconsistency and I am very protective of marriage and family since I live in a culture/society that is always trying to attack marital and familial values.

I pag-ibig 50s America. I pag-ibig how happy and free those women were while being respected and appreciated at the same time. I pag-ibig how most women in 50s America could grow up expecting to get to be married one araw instead of today where they think it's not enough or that they won't be good enough for it. I also pag-ibig how women in 50s America also had the choice to pursue lifestyles other than traditional marriage and motherhood but weren't pressured like today to have to pursue alternative lifestyles to those within the home. I pag-ibig how women in 50s America respected each other sa pamamagitan ng dressing modestly and were respected sa pamamagitan ng men with chivalrous acts as opposed to today where women dress in provocative and upsetting manners which disrespect other women and want men to be crude and vulgar in front of them. So ultimately, I am very much a 50s gal who loves femininity, freedom, opportunity, respect, modesty and most of all: balance.

School/College/Work: When I graduated high school, I was accepted to a private Christian college not in/near my hometown (I was a Christian then but I am no longer a Christian anymore). I had enough scholarships to get in but didn't have the money to pay for the dorms, no car and no job/money to take the bus to school etc. I had gotten to the dorm and moved in but had to ilipat out the susunod araw which was very disheartening for me.

My mother, who received welfare and unemployment etc. never saved up for me as that taxpayer money went to her booze and drugs [not even rent or necessities] as we were evicted twice throughout my childhood and often struggling economically. I developed a deep humility and frugalness, learning the values of priorities even though my mother still hasn't today. Since college didn't work out for me, I turned to working and ended up working 2 jobs at different points to save up to get my own place. I knew that I'd always be substituting as a better mother than my mother for my mother/siblings if I never left. Since I didn't choose that lifestyle and she chose it for herself, I believed it was only fair to me to pursue my own independence. It was very hard for me since the mother in me wanted to stay and be a mother for my siblings but I knew my life had to come first because that was balanced.

I found a job that I loved and that paid enough to stop having to work 2 jobs which had begun to take a serious toll on my health. This new job that I loved treated me wonderfully and I even worked my way up to supervisor and trained new employees. When I met my husband, I continued working until we got married. I have been a housewife since then, trying to work on myself and healing from all of the abuse that I took when younger and not letting that make me a bitter/nasty person. My hope is to become a mother one araw and truly break the cycle of the abusive mothering that my grandmother started with my mother and she continued with me. Since I want my child to have the best chance that I never did, I want to be fully ready in every way before I even consider getting pregnant: mentally, emotionally, physically, financially and even geographically. :)

Hobbies: I have always connected to Ariel and Belle's pag-ibig of adventure and learning. Their enthusiasm matches my own. I've also got a lot of Anna's can-do spunk and eagerness. I pag-ibig to talk to people of different backgrounds and experiences and have them share their wisdom with me. I have found quite a few users on this site who completely inspire me in my road to bettering myself and it's such a pleasure for me to have this site to converse with others like them and learn all that I do. <3

I can definitely be described as somewhat dorky and quirky. I pag-ibig pagbaba and writing, drawing, doing math equations (you read that right), making lists, checking things off on a listahan (and feeling/being productive), scrapbooking, playing games (board, card and social), listening to music, going for walks in nature and I pag-ibig traveling. I don't watch much TV, there are only a few shows worth watching for me, but I do watch pelikula quite often with my husband. I pag-ibig playing board games. I really do. I also pag-ibig randomly talking in a British accent because it's so beautiful and proper to me, I just can't get enough. My only real pantasiya in life is that one araw my British accent would be so good that I could go to England and blend right in. <3 (I pag-ibig other accents too though but not as much as this one.)

Other Cultures/Countries/Cities: I pag-ibig traveling and experiencing new cultures! I pag-ibig to hear accounts of culture shock and I pag-ibig to learn about cultural differences etc. I find them fascinating.

I've visited half of the USA but never been to another country.
My paborito places in the USA are:
San Francisco- My paborito place on Earth! There isn't anything I don't pag-ibig about this place. The weather is always a perfect autumn type weather that is a bit windy but never too cold or hot. The people are usually incredibly friendly and the perfect professionals who know how to balance respect and comfortability. There are some nice museums including the Walt Disney Museum and an Exploratorium. There are cool sights and historical places, especially Alcatraz Island. The sights are also gorgeous. It's just a perfect city to me in every single way other than all those hills! :D

Philadelphia- My 2nd paborito place on Earth! There is so much American history here that I appreciate as an American citizen. The Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, etc. It's also known for it's educational values with an Ivy League school that has 1 of the biggest Archaeology Museums in the world aside from England (University of Philadelphia) as well the Franklin Institute. It has also has a great art museum most known from the Rocky films. If that wasn't enough, the pagkain is AMAZING. Seriously. Best Italian pagkain in America. The pizza was in it's own category. The coffee and water taste better than on the West Coast too. Additionally, it's a very green place in that it still has a lot of natural forest. I just pag-ibig this place! The people can be a bit rude and over-sarcastic in my opinion but I do value their straight-forwardness and reason behind their values, even if I don't completely agree. The crowd of Philly always makes sports 10x madami interesting in my opinion because of their unique spirits and attitudes though. :)

Chicago- My 3rd paborito place on Earth! This place embodies everything I pag-ibig about America and in my opinion has a perfect balance of traditionalism and modernism, similar to San Francisco. I really pag-ibig this city. It has amazing science and natural history museums that I could just spend multiple days, all day, in. Beautiful known fountain from Cheers? or some TV ipakita back in the day. Other nice landmarks like the bean, pier, tower, etc. sa pamamagitan ng far though, this is my paborito pagkain location in America! WOW! Best pagkain I have ever had anywhere! <333

My paborito places & cultures outside the USA are:
England/English- I've been in pag-ibig with English culture for a long time. I pag-ibig the way the English talk, not just the accent but the proper English too. I pag-ibig the concept of tsaa and their concepts of civility. I pag-ibig the striving for grace and class. I pag-ibig a lot of the British music/bands too. I also pag-ibig the pangkalahatang attitudes in British culture. :) I would pag-ibig to go to England and experience everything about British culture as well as visit the archaeology museum, Stonehenge and Super Stonehenge.

Germany/German- I completely adore, admire and respect German efficiency. I pag-ibig the way their culture is so efficient and direct, it is so intriguing to me. I adore their architecture as well! I also admire the German people for pulling themselves up after the World Wars. I also really pag-ibig German food! So delicious! I've heard Germany is beautiful and I personally pag-ibig forest and mountains so I would pag-ibig to see the geography as well as experience the culture and talk to locals etc.

Japan/Japanese- Ever since I was a child I have always been attracted to Japanese culture. I have always greatly admired their sense of honor, duty and respect. I pag-ibig their religion of Shinto and their concept of balance which is largely where I derive my beliefs from. When I was younger, I was fascinated sa pamamagitan ng Samurai culture, partly because I like fencing (and archery) and partly because of the value systems and deep devotions etc. I have heard Hapon is very beautiful as well and I would pag-ibig to see it as well as experience the culture and talk to locals here as well. Similar to England, I'd also pag-ibig to attend a traditional tsaa ceremony.

Favorite Food: karneng hiniwa from Texas. Texans know what I'm talking about. <3

Favorite Drink: Dr. Pepper girl my whole life.

Favorite Colors: Pretty much all shades of kulay-rosas and purple, especially combined.

So that's me! Now you know who this person is Pagsulat so many artikulo and posting so many polls! Since I contribute so much and comment so much, but haven't been here that long (only 4 months), I thought you guys might like a chance to get to know me and where I am coming from. I hope to hear from you guys as I would pag-ibig to know you and get to hear where you guys come from as well! :D

laylastepford [b]Angelica_AW:[/b] Well if you do then I would love to read it! :D I am sorry to hear about what you went through with your dad as well. I am glad that your mother was able to give you a constant home your whole life, I'm sure you have many memories there (hopefully positive). :) That's so interesting! My dad's parents were also together in their teen years but they are only in their 60s maybe early 70s. (My parents had me very young.) Working 2 jobs definitely took a toll on me! I would get off one job, head straight to the other, come home and only have a few hours to sleep, eat and shower etc. It was tough but it was worth it for what I got in the end. That's very lucky that you haven't had to have a job in your life. :) Thank you for commenting and sharing a bit about yourself with me, I appreciate it! :D

ace2000 Fantastic article. I'm very sorry to hear about what you had to endure with your mother. I don't think I'd be able to pull out of that situation a sane person, which you definitely have. The worst situation I've been in is my schizophrenic-bipolar father fighting with my mother and them getting divorced, but their fighting only was evident to me for one or two years, not my whole life. I've actually been considering writing one of these getting to know you articles; hope you wouldn't mind. :)

PrincessAyeka12 An enjoyable read! I'm sorry to hear about your past though. The 50's gal thing explains alot about how you view modesty and feminism. I wondered about that so you answered my unspoken questions. About England, just know that we're a liberal country and we're not as religious as people in the USA.

I am also very sorry that your mother chose to have kids with someone who was not in a proper state to have children. That must have been really hard for you and put quite the strain on your relationship with your parents. I am very sorry and I hope that that your father found the help that he needed as well as your mother started making wiser decisions. I am glad that their fighting wasn't evident to you for your whole life either as that could put a huge strain on your future romantic relationships. I view feminism the way I do because again, I have respect for myself and other women but also respect for men, marriage, family and society. If you have questions, I'd love to answer them so you can actually have a direct answer rather than implied answer that may or may not actually be true. :) I'm not religious at all so I am thankful that England is not as religious as America, the religion in America holds the country back in many ways. I have a hard time understanding what you mean about liberal though because I don't see at all how England is more liberal than America? Would love to hear your explanation. :)

PrincessAyeka12 I don't really know but as you say in parts of America religion holds the country back. I might be right or wrong about this. I also believe there is more racism in parts of America. As a liberal country, England is less racist. For example I once saw a Vblog on YouTube made by an African American about her race (black people) and how they're treated overseas. She visited England and was quite surprised by the attitude in a good way. She didn't face any racism whilst here. But every country has it's extremes. As a sheltered person, who's lived a sheltered life, I don't really know what our "extremes" are.

laylastepford [b]PrincessAyeka12:[/b] In my experience, the vast majority of the racism in America occurs in the Southern states (and some Mid-West states that are in the middle of nowhere) which is also where the vast majority of homophobia etc. takes place in America. In the big cities like LA, New York, Chicago, etc. there really isn't as much racism. You hear a lot of complaints about it but you never actually see it. (Usually, someone of a different race is in a bad mood or a jerk and suddenly that person is a racist because the accuser didn't watch that person be a jerk to people of all races so they assumed it was racism in their personal case, if that makes sense?) Additionally, the majority of systemic racism in America is actually against Caucasian people. American media is also pretty heavily biased against Caucasian males in America. I have also read many studies that say America is the best country for African citizens because they get the most opportunities and best treatment here than any other country on earth. I have also read that England and Canada are close seconds. America is looked at as a racist country or as having many social problems because the majority occur in those 2 regions, South and some of the mid-west, but the entire country gets the reputation for it. Those same parts are also the most religious and a lot of those people actually don't believe in evolution and think the earth is much younger than scientifically proven. When America got rid of slavery or allowed abortion (a religious issue in America not sexist issue), it was those 2 regions that kept us from being unified as a country on those issues and really progressing. Obviously I haven't been to England (yet!) but I assume it's much more like both coasts of the USA or the more populated parts of the mid-west which aren't that religious. Anyways, I never considered England to be a liberal country or at least not more liberal than America but I suppose that also depends on how we are defining liberal. :) I always thought England had a perfect balance between liberal and conservative so I always saw England as being very balanced, not really tipped towards 1 or the other. I am incredibly interested in English culture though so thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with me! I'd love to know if it was just the religious aspects that made you feel England is more liberal or if there were other things as well? May I also ask you what part of England you live in or maybe what is the nearest big city to you so that I might know a little more about what region you have experienced most? :) I am obsessed with England and English culture and I even tell my husband that if we ever visit England, I highly doubt I'm going to want to come back. (half kidding ;D) So if I ever ask you too many questions then please forgive me and just let me know, as talking to an English citizen for me is like being a kid in a candy store. I try not to ask you too much because I want to be respectful of you but anything you want to tell me about English culture or living, I'm 110% all ears!! <3

PrincessAyeka12 When we (the English) talk about being liberal, we mean being tolerant. Not politically liberal.

laylastepford PrincessAyeka12: Interesting, thank you for that clarification. My husband has been to England and he said that there is also more accountability in England where they can shame you without trying much, with just a look or so. They are tolerant and have some laws that are more open than America but they also expect you to have a certain social decency and etiquette, they expect you to understand the nuances of which time and place are most appropriate for certain actions and behaviors etc. Would you say that's accurate?

The only place in all of England that I am hesitant to visit would be Bridgend because I recently watched a documentary about that place and I find that horrifying that so many people who swear they will never commit suicide, end up doing so.

PrincessAyeka12 30 miles from where I live is Cambridge (city), it's a beautiful traditional University town. York is a city up North. Both of these cities have a rich history, rivers and great shopping. Cambridge and York also don't have rough areas with scruffy dressed people. And of course there's also London to visit. Every hotel in country offers afternoon tea. But you have to willing to spend quite a bit. Average Brits only have it as a treat nowadays.

anukriti2409 I remember reading about your growing up years in previous article as well. I;m really glad that you’ve been already able to break the cycle that you haven’t become a negative person despite your environment being so ugly. My blessing and wishes be with you to experience motherhood whenever you are ready, I must say that it is one of the life-changing experience. I’m also really happy to know that you are happily settled in a nurturing and loving environment now. Although I;m quite good at maths, I have never enjoyed it. I love board games too!!! Ludo, Checkers, Mastermind, Clue, Pictionary, Scrabble, Monopoly are my favorites! I don’t watch TV either too much now, I have watched few series but that too on computer and not followed through – The Big Bang Theory and Friends. The only series I have seriously followed are Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai and Geet. I have watched several in my childhood - Disney’s Aladdin, TLM, Talespin, Ducktales and Powerpuff girls, Dexter, Dennis the menace, Tom & Jerry among others. I love scrapbooking too – I love collecting pretty dresses and interior décor images and travel related pictures. I have a serious passion for travelling too and it is my dream to visit every country in the world before I die. I really loved reading why you love some cities in USA. I also love San Francisco! And I love Oregon too, especially Portland. These are the only places that I have stayed for considerable amount of time to know about people and how they live their lives. Others I have visited more as tourist so I like them anyways :) Unfortunately, I don’t like British and German history to begin with and how they dominated the world out of pure greed and hatred towards other races and cultures, so I always have that baggage in my mind, although I do admire current German culture. I’m unaware of ancient Japanese culture but I don’t enjoy their current values , especially how men work keeping their families at backseat. But I respect why you love them too. We don’t have many favorites in various interests though except for few – Beatles <3, inception, 1984. We have many many similars in Disney world though, as you may already know!

Once I've got my formula, for some reason it becomes fun. It's WEIRD, I know. ;) That's so awesome that you love board games too! I always feel like I'm one of the very few people left who finds them to be very fun, social and enjoyable. I remember trying to get friends to play board games after high school and they thought I was such a geek for it. Scrapbooking is very fun for me. I collect items and tools etc. then usually do an entire book at once so I just get consumed by it. I currently only have 3 scrapbooks right now, 1 for meeting my husband and our relationship as an unmarried couple with our courting period; 1 for my wedding with my husband and our honeymoon (our honeymoon was a road trip around America); and 1 for our trip to Disneyworld. :D I think traveling is one of the most respectable dreams and hobbies a person can have. I just think it really stems from a place of openness and willingness to understand and explore etc. I have never been to Portland yet but am planning to do a trip at some point to see Portland, Seattle and maybe even Canada as well. :) San Francisco is probably my favorite place in the entire world though! I must admit though that I don't single out Britain and Germany for the quests of power when literally every other great power like them did the same thing including China, Rome, Persia and Egypt etc. I personally think it's incredibly unfair that European countries get slammed for their historical conquests even though we know that all countries/cultures that rose up would also try to go out and expand and take over other places as well. I actually also have a deep respect for Germany because when they were all just a bunch of clans fighting with eachother, they were able to unite and fend off one of the greatest powers ever on Earth in Rome, even though Rome had taken over other places that were much farther away. I find that to be incredibly admirable and wouldn't find it right to fault 1 culture for something that all cultures do. :D I don't know what you mean about current values of Japan with "how men work keeping their families at backseat"? I'm somewhat surprised that we don't have more non-Disney favorites in common because we do have so many Disney favorites in common but then again I'm not completely surprised because we do come from totally different regions and cultures and backgrounds and experiences. :)

anukriti2409 ^ I often play board games with cousins and husband on christmas and new year's eve. It's a tradition we keep following over the years. That's so cool that you took a road trip, i love road trips too and have taken some myself with my husband too <3 I don't single out British and German political pursuits, it is because you mentioned these, so I pointed only those. My problem moreoever with their expansion is that they didn't treat the expanded colonies as part of their empire but only sucked them dry or destroyed it. Roman empire considered the expansion as part of their kingdom and worked on it equally. Even persians and mughals were like that. Don't know about Alexander's expansion, so can't comment on that. I agree that they were able to fight off Romans, the greatest power, for longest time which i greatly admire. Currently, men (in Japan) are so devoted to work that they have forgotten to do their duty towards their families. They stay away from families for years for work, which is not healthy. They also do not follow proper sleep cycle and work for 20 hours a day. I remember you have more eclectic tastes, and I have rather more popular tastes. :D
