If you've never seen it, "Frozen - A Musical Feat. Disney Princesses" is a Youtube video sa pamamagitan ng Youtube user AVbyte. To form an opinion on it, you should watch it at this link: link

I already posted a not-so-popular pagtitip. post about it, which I quote here: "Has anyone seen the video "Elsa- I Don't Need a Man"? In this video, Elsa sings to the classic-er princesses (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine) It infuriates me for two reasons.

1. She shames the other princesses for falling in love/wanting to fall in love. For one, not all of them were lovesick ninnies- Belle and hasmin wanted adventure, Belle didn't let Gaston woo her, and hasmin didn't appreciate being treated like a prize. And is it really so bad that the others fell in love? They were classic fairytale pelikula made in a classic time period. Their pag-ibig stories were unrealistic, yes, but Elsa should not shame them because they were products of their time.

2. If any princess should be pag-awit this song, it should be Mulan, Tiana, Merida (much as I hate her), Jasmine, or others. NOT Elsa! I'm sick of everyone pagganap like she's such a strong role model just because she has ice powers and doesn't get married. To me, she is a weak role model, weaker than Snow White, because at least Snow can stay positive and happy and make the best of a bad situation. All Elsa does is shut everyone out and run away from her problems, leaving the kingdom to freeze.

The one good thing about that video is that the vocals were really nice :)"

Well, you get most of the idea there, but now I'm doing an in-depth analysis:

First 6 segundos of video: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle and hasmin are marveling as Ariel shows off, in a ditsy, nasal, "girly" voice, a fake hair bulaklak that Eric got her.

Just opening up to this video I am already annoyed. They are depicting all of these classic-er princesses as ditsy, annoying, cutesy girls. Not that there's really anything wrong with having a "girly" or "cutesy" personality, but this video inaccurately depicts them in a stereotypical way meant to degrade them. Now, Snow White or Aurora, POSSIBLY Sinderella or Ariel, might act this way (although not exactly to the extent that this video shows), but since when do hasmin and Belle? In both of their films, especially BATB, other "ditsy" girls like the blonde sisters or the belly dancers were shown in a way that contrasts the female leads who we know and love.

0:06-0:12: Elsa, with a snooty expression on her face, sings: "Why does every princess need to have a prince? It's the same old story but I'm just not convinced"

Um, hello? Merida, anybody? (And it's not like they have the excuse of forgetting her, nagyelo was made after bravo came out, let alone all the strong princesses they're clearly forgetting about.) There are many other princesses, like Mulan, Tiana, Pocahontas, etc, who are strong enough to get along without their prince, but nope, they're in love, and that's clearly not strong enough for Elsa!

0:13: "Why keep on assuming men will save the day?"

Again, Elsa, we just went over how so many princesses don't need a man to save them. They often work together with their prince, or even save their prince. And for the classic princesses, they are products of their time. We have so many strong princesses now, and that doesn't mean the ones who got saved sa pamamagitan ng a prince are bad.

0:17: "I can be the hero and do it my own way!"

Actually, Elsa, you were not the hero of your story! Elsa mainly created the problem in Frozen, and Anna's act of pag-ibig saved the day, but nooo, Anna fell in pag-ibig so she can't be pag-awit this! Again, another princess really should be pag-awit this.

0:20: "Why be confined to be hiding behind true love? Enough! I'm who I am, I don't need a man."

These princesses who you are mocking are not "hiding behind true love". What does that even mean? Each of the princesses you can pretty much describe without using the words "her prince" or something like that. And if you don't think you can, Elsa or anyone who thinks that, then maybe you're the offensive one.

0:33: "(to Snow White) You got slipped a roofie. (to Jasmine) You fell for a cheat. (to Cinderella) You got really lucky that you've got tiny feet. (to Belle) You've got Stockholm Syndrome. (to Aurora) You're a spoiled brat. (to Ariel) You had special talents but gave them up like that!"

This really bothers me. She is making fun of all the other princesses. For Snow White, she was tricked sa pamamagitan ng the witch, and yes, she shouldn't have opened the door, but she was just being her kind, open-hearted self. hasmin fell for a man who really loved and admired her. He may have lied, but she saw past his flaws for who he really was. Sinderella did get really lucky, but is there any madami recognized story than hers? As for Belle, I hate it when people say she has Stockholm syndrome! She fell for the Beast once he started being kind to her. Unrealistic, yes, but Elsa still has no right to put her down for a silly, inaccurate reason like that. How on earth is Aurora a spoiled brat? Really, tell me why, because that makes NO sense. And yes, Ariel did give up her voice for a kind of silly plan, but Elsa could certainly look up to how spunky and determined she is!

0:54: After repeating what she sang in 0:20, Elsa sings "Please understand you don't need a man". hasmin says "You haven't found him yet."

Would hasmin really say this? In her movie she sinabi she didn't want to marry someone unless she was ready and truly loved the man. I'm sure she would say the same for women everywhere, but again, this video replaces their actual personalities with generic, stereotypical, ditsy princesses.

1:00: The Princesses sing: "When you're in love, head over fin, nothing else matters, nothing but him. Follow your dreams, odd as that seems to be."

This is yet another inaccurate stereotype. The princesses know how to follow their dreams, whatever those dreams happen to be. That's what they're known for! They did not abandon all other areas of life for their princes. For example, Belle was in pag-ibig with the Beast, but still tried to help her father.

1:11: The princesses sing "When you're in love, life is a song. All happy endings never go wrong. 'Cept when they do, sadly that's true. Who knew."

It's true that pag-ibig isn't always easy, and sometimes Disney pelikula have somewhat unrealistic relationships in them. However, true pag-ibig is one of the most beautiful things in life and the princesses ipakita that you can follow your dreams, and pag-ibig can prevail. Besides, not all of the princesses have perfect relationships. Pocahontas had to leave her love, and Anna fell too soon for a man with dark intentions, but this video ignores both of them.

1:22: Belle: "I dreamed of daring quests" Ariel: "Seeing the world from east to west" Cinderella: "Instead we just sit inside" Aurora: "Stuck in this princess stereotype"

What?? Belle did get her daring quest, and Ariel finally saw the world (some of it, at least) once she got to land with Eric. They both fell in love, but that didn't mean they had to forfeit their dreams. "Just sit inside"? No way! When, in ANY of their movies, did the princesses sit around all day, at least sa pamamagitan ng choice? The princess stereotype is what this video is inaccurately promoting, not the Disney movies!

Basically the rest of the song is repeated other stuff and Elsa pretending to be some fierce girl-power goddess. I don't want to talk in circles so I'm just going to make my main points:

1. Stop pretending Elsa is so strong just because she has ice powers, sings "Let it Go" and doesn't fall in love. She is the main problem in Frozen, and she doesn't do anything to solve it. If you want a strong animated leading lady, look to some in the susunod point....

2. Again, if any of the princesses should sing this song, it would be Jasmine, Belle, Mulan, Tiana, Merida or others. Not that I support making fun of other princesses, but if it's going to happen it shouldn't be Elsa at all.

3. I wish people would appreciate the princesses' actual personalities instead of forgetting all of their wonderful qualities and forming them into a ditsy, cutesy, damsel-in-distress mold. hasmin was outspoken, Mulan was brave, Belle was smart, Merida could shoot a bow and arrow, Sinderella was optimistic, and Snow White was cheerful and kind to all. That video somehow took those qualities away from all the other princesses and placed them onto Elsa, who had very little good quality like that.
