Luna woke up on the morning of her 13th birthday, Maria (the maid) walked in with Luna’s paborito breakfast; eggs, sausage patties, and fruit.
“Oh my goodness, my favorite! Thank you Maria, so much!” she said
“You’re very welcome, my darling. Happy birthday!” Maria sinabi smiling.
Luna ate her delicious breakfast, and then she rushed downstairs to see her parents. The room was beautifully decorated, bulaklak everywhere (Mostly lilies; Luna’s paborito flower,) and there was a big cake on the table. King Phillip and reyna Aurora were standing in the middle of the room with the rest of Luna’s loved ones.
“Oh, mother, father, you didn’t have to do this!’ Luna said, running up to hug them.
“Oh my, it seems like just yesterday I was cradling you in my arms.” Aurora sinabi “You’ve grown up to be so beautiful”
Aurora was right; Luna was blessed with exquisite beauty. She had long presa blond hair, big brown eyes, and a smile to die for. She was gorgeous, inside and out.
Luna was having her daily pag-awit lesson, for she had the most beautiful voice. It was unique yet amazing, just like her mother’s. She was pag-awit a song that her mother had taught her, a song that she wrote about wanting true love, it was called “Once Upon A Dream.” As Maria played the piano, Luna beautifully sang
“I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream. I know you the gleam in your eyes is so familiar, a gleam”
Her voice sounded perfect along with the melodic piano
“And I know it’s true, that visions are seldom all they seem. But if I know you, I know what you’d do, you’d pag-ibig me at once, the way you di-“
“I remember that song” King Phillip said, smiling. "I just thought your mother thought of the lyrics from the tuktok of her head, maybe not"
Luna giggled
“Um, father. I know I’ve asked this a few times before, but….Can I….go out into town, just this once?” the girl said.
“No, my dear. I’m sorry, but it isn’t ligtas out there.” He said.
“How? What’s so dangerous about it?” Luna asked angrily
“People could discover who you are! Hold you hostage! Force you into giving them money!”
“But father, what if I’m in digui-“
“The answer is no!” Phillip interrupted
Luna ran away, in tears.
That night, at about 2:30 AM, when everybody was asleep, Luna found an old peasant outfit in her mother’s closet. She went back to her room and put it on, she climbed out the window, and left.
