I believe that princesses need a mother in their lives, just like we do

^ Well, a mother figure doesn't have to be an actual mother, you know. It can be a character that acts like a mother to the princess.

And no, not really.

Not really... Aurora, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel and Merida have mothers (Aurora has four mothers, if you count her aunts!). Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas and Anna/Elsa (counting as one, because they're sisters), don't. 5 against 7 - doesn't seem like a huge discrepancy for me.

I think guidance and care is necessary during upbringing, obviously, but a motherly figure... it's nice, but one can grow healthily without one. Same goes for a fatherly figure. It doesn't really matter the gender of the caregiver.

Ok, lemme ask you this," what if you were a princess with a dead mother?" How would you feel? To have your mom die

Nope. The only thing that bothers me somewhat is the fact that ALL the Princesses have their father present at some point in the movie, while the mother is often omitted (with the exception of Snow White, but she doesn't have a parenting figure either way). It would be nice to have a DP movie where it's switched - father dead, mother alive - PatF is arguable but Tiana's father is still a driving force in the plot and is ofc shown at the beginning.

It's a tired and unnecessary trope. It makes sense for Snow White and Cinderella since they're orphans but Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, and Pocahontas all have deceased mothers when there really is no solid reason. The main purpose to have a dead mother is so that the daughter can either butt heads with her father (Ariel and to an extant, Pocahontas) or depict the father as a foolish and in need of protection so that the daughter can take on the mother role (Belle, and maybe Jasmine).

As a child yes but as you grow up you notice that with the mothers alive the story wouldn't have worked.
