I agree with #4 and #2 for the most.

The #1 too, it's kinda forced when a fairytale adaptation was located in real city instead for a kingdom. The #3 didn't really bother me as Eilonwy and Kida's movies are flop and Mulan isn't.

I picked this one. I really like what Disney has been able to accomplish with their latest CG films in terms of story and animation, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see at least one more 2D film. TPatF is just stunning, and Winnie the Pooh also looked great. Rewatching those makes me wish we had more like them!
I can see the argument for #1, but I fell in love with TPatF regardless. I wonder if other fairytales would work okay if put in a modern setting too, or at least if I would end up liking them.
As for #3, I guess it is a bit of a shame they're excluded from the lineup. I don't side that strongly with it though because you can't blame Disney for not adding them, from a business sense.
And I've never seen the Pocahontas sequel so I can't speak for #4.

I guess.... This just wasn't magical at all to me. And the only reason I'm not picking #2, is because TPATF was the last of the hand-drawn animation, and I expected so much more out of it...and I got far less for the effort of trying to watch it. CGI isn't better (plastic-looking skin drives me nuts), but TPATF was the worst 2D animated movie I had seen in a long time.

And the nail in the coffin, was because TPATF wasn't a really sharply plotted movie and audiences didn't enjoy its rewrite of African American history--- it became the last of the 2D Disney films. Ever. Shameful, in my eyes.

This one, even though Moana was beautifully animated. I'll always love the hand-drawn animations.

Completely agree with everyone about this. I didn't like it because it was too modern and very clearly done just to fit a quota for the princess line. That's why the movie isn't good at all, because all the heart behind it wasn't there. It was just created solely for the merchandise. The movie-making process wasn't organic the way other POC films like Aladdin, Pocahontas, Hunchback, Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, etc. were made. Also I didn't like the idea of an American princess. There is so much African folklore that could have been used not to mention original stories but instead they give us an African American princess which is trying to hard to pander to demographics. A real African princess would have been much nicer and more true imo.

This. I adored TPATF, though some of the above comments bring up good points. One of my favorite Disney movies. There's something stunning about hand drawn animation when it's done well.

tbh #1 is dumb - PATF is no more" real world" than BATB or Mulan or Pocahontas which are also set in specific locations and time periods.
