Shang never did anything very jerk-like.

Yeah I think both John and Shang lost their pereonalites in the sequels.John became a jerk compare to first movie he was brave and rommantic and caring and would follow Pocahontad no matter what. But he lost it in the sequel and was not the same and I was like what happened? I just think that sequel don't exist and I'm okay or I think John realized his mistake and gave up his boat and return to Pocahontas and let her know how wrong he was. That's what I think to stop thinking about the horrible sequel! And Shang wasn't any better in his sequel,he came across Mulan more then once and wasn't very nice. But part of that was because of Mushu. But other part was kind of on him.But in the end he realized his mistake and did make it up to Mulan,I'll give him that.I wished John did that with Pocahontas instead of letteing her go like that.I'm sure he regrets now.

All of them.
I didn't like how Aladdin repeated his mistakes and got everybody pissed at him in the second film. The third film was a relief b/c at least it showed that Aladdin matured.
Eric=I didn't like how he went from action man to being a prop/wimp in the sequel. I also hated how they changed the voice actor.
You guys had echoed my thoughts about John Smith and Shang.
Charming was an exception. I don't know about the second film but in the third film, he got more screen time and was really sweet with Cindy.

Shang wasn't a jerk, and if he was a jerk he was as much as Mulan, it was Mushu's fault. Sacrificing his life to save Mulan, what an ass

How was John Smith a jerk? Just curious because I don't remember well. Because he didn't send his letters to Pocahontas? I didn't hear that part well.

I watched both movies yesterday to remember again.I've changed my mind.Shang wasn't a jerk it was Mushu's fault (Mushu was a jerk). John Smith wasn't a jerk, too. Yes he didn't send letters to Pocahontas. I think the word ''jerk'' is wrong. They are different.Yes,different. They are not as they were in their original movie.

Yeah, I may love Mulan II, but you have to admit Shang was really, really dickish in that one. Although TBF, the guy *was* under a lot of stress -- trying to protect the princesses of Ki-Gong (sorry about the spelling; it's been a while since I watched the movie), suffering from Mushu's attempts to sabotage his and Mulan's relationship a la Gollum with Frodo and Sam (okay, flawed comparison, but you get my point), and later finding out that the princesses have developed crushes on their bodyguards which may sabotage the mission (i.e. letting the Emperor down). Add the "surviving a thousand foot drop onto solid rock and nearly losing Mulan thanks to Mushu's dickery" (although, fortunately, Mushu makes up for it and saves the couple in the nick of time) and...yeah, poor Shang. *Pets* He really just needs a hug.

As for John Smith...I can't really say.
