he Doctor's name nobody knows, not even the writers. That's why it's a whisper because the writers haven't discussed it. If they give that away, then Doctor Who won't be as mysterious so you won't really have to watch. In one of the episodes of the "Keys to time" series, a former school chum calls Tom Baker "Theta Sigma." The Doctor sheepishly tries to silence him while looking back & forth at the camera & his chum. Classic Tom Baker style. His real name is ibingiay in "Unfinished Business" series of online Doctor #9. It is: Chrístõdavõreendiamondhærtmallõupdracœfiredelúnmiancuimhne de Lœngbærrow - - Chrístõ to his friends. Another of his names his chritaéroõdesmaérãtoru. IT is pronouced (cri_est_t_o) but the rest of his name his gobbledegook that cannot be pronouced. Although it cannot be pronounced there will be an episode of Doctor Who where it will be announced but that episode is in the 6th series Nobody knows his real name. He is known sa pamamagitan ng everybody as 'The Doctor' or just 'Doctor'. He is also known as 'boss' sa pamamagitan ng Mickey Smith.

Guys his name is not Theta Sigma. That was his nickname, his mga kaibigan used to call him that, his name has been untold as yet. His name is not John Smith either, thats just what he calls himself when he doesn't say "Doctor".
Hello! I am new to the forum, I have been a Dr Who tagahanga since the Jon Pertwee era...A pleasure and an honor to be here to honor the most incredible and longest lasting sci-fi series in history. As far as the fourth doctor being referred to as Sigma Theta...it was established that his chum was a high school alumni...perhaps that was just his "fraternity " name?
That may be true because of the carrionite episode with martha, a witch named The Doctor which will stun someone, but it didn't work because the doctor does not have a name, but in The Fires of Pompeii, one of the girls who could see through time said it was lost in the Medusa Cascade

His name, roughly translated into English is Zero, 0, or quite simply "Nothing."
The "Theta Sigma" is a mathematical formula of words which equals naught; makes sense in that the universe as we know it would end if you try to divide it from Zero. To say it in the proper tongue/frequency would have such an effect. Explains why the Gallifreyans wanted to use it in "The Time of The Doctor" to destroy the universe in order to bridge over to the parallel one. Think of his name as the Ultimate. Sonic. Screwdriver...
It gets better.
He could very well have also been of the founding Time Lords: Omega, Rassilon and The Other - a 'One, a 'Negative...and a 'Nothing. In other words a Forwards, Backwards and...a Neutral?
But it is clear that those values became corrupt with their own power after a time.
He could literally time itself, travelling to ensue his and everyone's own survival.
My theory anyway.
I realize the above logic is filled with a few holes, but close to something. Someone help me out here?
I think the doctors name is destroyer. His name in galifrayian is too long to pronounce though. In English it is destroyer. That's the reason he doesn't want to tell anyone. He does have a reputation of destroying stuff. He wants to have a new image as doctor so he doesn't bring up his former name as destroyer. He didn't want to say his name in the name of the doctor special because these enemy's he didn't know much about they may be like the Carrionite and feed off of words. In the girl in the apoy place the girl knew it was a dark secret for him and she believed he had changed. So that's my theory anyway.
A crucial thing you need to remember, some confirmed facts are -His name cannot be pronounced sa pamamagitan ng humans -Galifrean cannot be translated to English, look it up -The word Doctor was named after him, not the other way round.
To those of you saying the Doctor's name is "Benjamin" as referenced in the episode 'Let's Kill Hitler', you have not seen the Mike Nichols movie "The Graduate". The Benjamin reference is to the the pamagat character played sa pamamagitan ng Dustin Hoffman. If you recall, there is a scene in "Let's Kill Hitler" right after River regenerates where she pagpaparangal her foot up on an overturned chair and says "Hello, Benjamin". A camera shot is taken with River's leg framing The Doctor, Amy & Rory in the shot. I've included a comparison of the two. River would not have known the Doctor's name at this time.
My friend from the set told me "Benjamin the 8th Lord of Time" was his name. I didn't get the big deal at first, but she explained it for me, but I don't exactly want to introduce another spoiler. So, that explain why River Song/Melody Pond said, "Hello Benjamin" to the Doctor in season 6 episode 6 "Let's Kill Hitler"
The Doctors name is "Sweetie" The oldest question in the universe is Doctor Who? In "The Pandorica Opens" The first words in the universe. it translates to "Hello, Sweetie" and you usually call someone by hello by saying "Hello,"
and River Song {The Doctors wife and knows the doctors name} says this to him a lot "Hello, Sweetie" This seems like the best answer
I think that the Doctor's name is really long, and made up of 9 words. I think it might go something like this: D_____ O_____ C_____ T______ O_____ R______ W______ H_____ O______.
the reason I think nine is because if you look at his name in circular gallifreyan, it is made up of nine circles, including the two smaller ones off to the side. These two might be like abbreviations, or the first letter of part of his name, ex: John A. Smith.
Secondly, don't you think it could possibly be a little bit madami than a coincidence that the number of circles in his name is the same amount of letters that are in the name of the show?
What the-? Doctor Who’s real name has been revealed sa pamamagitan ng writer Steven Moffat (Picture: BBC) Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has dropped a big bombshell about everyone’s favourite Time Lord. In the latest issue of Doctor Who magazine, the writer was asked sa pamamagitan ng a tagahanga about companion Clara Oswald’s memory. In his answer, Steven revealed the Doctor’s true identity. Whovians, prepare to freak out. ‘No one can know the Doctor’s name, except each successive showrunner’ Moffat said. ‘We’re taken into a special room far beneath the BBC and ibingiay the ancient and special runes that spell his true and awful name. ‘We’re commanded never to reveal what we have learned, because then the ipakita would have to be renamed Mildred. Oh, bugger.’
I've got it! We know the Doctor's name is the equation "∂³∑x²". What if that equation has an answer? An answer that could answer the oldest tanong or destroy the universe. The doctor name is...a question. It is a riddle within a riddle. They make it sound like the tanong that must never be answered the the name of the doctor, but in truth the tanong is the answer to the doctor's name. Make sense?
When people say the writers never reveal his name, their wrong, They reveal his name almost every time someone asks it. It took me a long while to figure this out, but think about this quote "the oldest tanong in the universe, hidden in plain sight, written among the stars" Ill give you a hint: "doctor who" isn't the question, his name is. And they basically tell you what it that tanong is in that very quote. Think about it. Just Think. Sorry, I cant just tell you. Spoilers.
The Doctor's name is never going to be revealed we will hear many things and most of us will believe a number to be true. The doctors name is the greatest tanong left unanswered. The doctor may have a very long listahan of names that we all believe one is the correct name, but I will assure you it is not. Let me ask you this, why would the ipakita be called the tanong Doctor Who( or Dr. Who depends on what season your watching) if they weren't going to leave it as a tanong but, an answer? In several episodes it has been told if the tanong is answered the oldest tanong the first tanong is ever answered, all silence will fall and reality will cease to exist. which is a great way to know that all of those names ibingiay that we believe to be true are not. In the episode The Time Of The Doctor, Clara Oswald makes a brilliant point that saves the doctors live she says "You've been asking a question, and its time some one told you you've been getting it wrong. His name is The Doctor! All the name he needs, everything you need to know about him, and if you pag-ibig him - and you should - help him." so theres your answer his name is The Doctor.
Dr. Infinity, or maybe Dr. ∞ (the infinity symbol itself) since it's almost (or really) impossible/hard to say a symbol, it's hard to say his name. I also think he might become immortal, never run out of live(s)
He doesn't have a name. Everyone what's to know his name but I think it's just a simbel of something. It won't be john or bob it won't be a name because people say it hard to pronounce. It's got to be a simbel of some kind.
I have another theory about the doctors name. Remember when Evelina sinabi "Your real name is hidden. It burns in the stars, in the Cascade of Medusa herself" in The fires of Pompeii.
I think the doctors real name is found outside of the Dr who universe. Because in real life, there is a quadruple bituin system in the constellation Orion. The four stars are known as Mu Orionis As, Mu Orionis Ab, Mu Orionis Ba and Mu Orionis Bb.
And this bituin system falls just outside a planetary nebula called Abell 12. The bright bituin makes detecting the faint nebula difficult and it has been nicknamed "The hidden".
But wait, there's more.
At the 2012 Comic-Con in San Diego, Steven Moffat explicitly stated that he knows what the Doctor’s real name is, and that it has never been spoken on screen. He sinabi the name is passed down to each successive showrunner, adding: “We’re commanded never to reveal what we have learned, because then the ipakita would have to be renamed Mildred. Oh, bugger.”
Now, if you Google "Abell 12" you will see a bright bituin and behind it, a planet with a mild red (remember that he sinabi Mildred) glow.
Therefore i have come to the conclusion that the doctors real name is Abell.
In the 50th anniversary special he states clearly to Osgood that his 1st name is BASIL. however there is text of his name with 1 example using greek symbols (∂³∑x² ) but also this text form of his name:
