Arctic Monkeys en Florence And The Machine winnen NME-awards

Het Britse rockmagazine NME heeft gisteravond in Londen haar awards uitgereikt. De Britse rockband Florence And The Machine en de band Arctic Monkeys wonnen elk twee awards. Ook The Horrors, Kasabian en The Vaccines vielen in de prijzen.

Florence And The Machine werd uitgeroepen tot 'Beste Soloartiest' en schreef met "Shake It Out" het 'Beste Rocknummer' van het voorbij jaar. "Het is nog steeds niet duidelijk of ik soloartiest ben dan wel deel uitmaak van een band. De award krijg je alleszins niet terug", grapte de zangeres. Arctic Monkeys kregen de Award voor 'Beste Live Band'. De Engelse band The Horrors kreeg het beeldje, een bronzen hand met opgestoken middelvinger, voor 'Beste Album'. Kasabian droeg haar overwinning als beste Britse rockband op aan Davy Jones, de zanger van The Monkees die eerder die avond overleden was. Het jongste en ook laatste filmavontuur van Harry Potter, "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows part 2", was het voorbije jaar de meestbezochte film in de bioscopen in ons land. Dat blijkt uit statistieken van de Vereniging van Filmdistributeurs van België. De film trok meer dan 1 miljoen kijkers.

Op de tweede plaats komt Steven Spielbergs Kuifje-verfilming "The Adventures of Tintin", met ongeveer 1 miljoen bezoekers. Nummer drie is "The Smurfs", met zo'n 980.000 bezoekers. Laatste Harry Potter-film verpulvert Belgisch record

De laatste Harry Potter-film heeft tijdens zijn openingsweekend in België 2,8 miljoen euro opgebracht en zo'n 341.000 bezoekers naar de zalen gelokt. Daarmee is de film goed voor het beste openingsweekend ooit in België.

Daarnaast breekt de film volgens Warner Bros. ook het record van "beste openingsdag" met 105.000 toeschouwers (1,02 miljoen euro) op vrijdag 13 juli, de "beste Harry Potter-opening" en "beste 3D-opening" in België.

Actress Emma Watson is worth how much? An estimated $32 million, thanks to the wildly popular "Harry Potter" film franchise that made her a global superstar.
