Ok, a lot of ppl here think Harry Potter is lame and boring and for dorks and is like dungeons and dragons and its for nerds who like to pretend to be wizards after school. Well, those people have not read the books. Of course, I respect everyone's opinion, even if they think twilight is better. But, dont choose before you read both complete books. I mean Twilight is about two tenagers in love, but there's a catch, one of them is a hot and sexy vampire who sometimes has the urge to drink his lover's blood. That sounds cool right? Now, Harry Potter is about a young boy's battle against the evil wizard who killed both his parents. Most people would rather read twilight, right? That's exactly why people have started to critize harry potter and saying its lame and boring and has no romance. The people that think this, give HP a try. i have to admit, the first books are not that good, but once you get to the last one, you will be amazed! If you dont believe this, let me just say that my sister used to tell me to read harry potter and i would think it was dumb and i wouldnt do it, but one araw a friend at school told me i should read it and i finally gave in and I was in awe. and for those of you who hate fantasy, harry potter isnt just a regular fantasy, jk rowling makes it all so realistic, you almost believe it, and it dosnt feel like pantasiya at all. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and make sure to give harry potter a chance, i guarantee that sa pamamagitan ng the end youll think better of it.

_madz_ i love both of them!!! i read harry potter first and fell in love with it (7 days till the movie is out here!!) then i read twilight and discovered i love it just as much! (cant wait for new moon!!)

burgundyeyes I read twilight before HP. my friend used to always tell me to read harry potter and well, i don't really know why i didn't want to. but finally she convinced me and i was hooked. now, i've convinced my older sister to read it and she says that the harry potter books are like a drug. (Reading harry potter can be dangerous sometimes. once, i almost let the diner burn because i was reading it :D)

PMT I was also reluctant to start Harry Potter. I really didn't like reading then. When I did read, I loved it and it encouraged me to read during the 5 years since then. Before I read Twilight I thought it would be good. As you said, nati30, it sounds pretty cool. But I must say, I was disappointed. Harry Potter doesn't disappoint people like that.

Bookaholics Saying only nerds read Harry Potter is like saying only stupid teenage girls read Twilight. It's not true. I'm obsessed with HP and a total nerd, but that's just me.

Vixela I think it is true the only nerds read Harry Potter. Nerds are cool anyway. It's one of the biggest compliments I've received the I'm quite proud of. Who says you can't be sporty and a nerd at the same time anyway? Accio HP Nerds! Twilight is a fad. Harry Potter is forever.

Kersian In 5th grade my teacher tried to get the whole class reading Harry Potter, now I thought it was going to be a bit boring, so I didn't read it then. In middle school, in 8th grade, when I did read it, I just loved it. The characters, the plot, just everything. It had a bittersweet ending which made just adore it.

ToyletGnome I hate it when people try and judge something they know nothing about. This goes for both sides but really, after reading them both I can understand if people prefer Twilight but you have to admit, Harry Potter is actually literature, Twilight isn't.

sleazy_weasley I've read both; I was first obsessed with HP when I was seven. I then read Twilight when I was thirteen - hormones raging everywhere - so, naturally, I was hooked by reading Edward's sexiness. That was before I realized the difference between good and bad literature (after reading BD, I read DH again and it hit me), the difference between love and lust, and generally how much greater HP is than Twilit. People generally associate HP with nerds, because it's fantasy - I bet half the Percy Jackson and LOTR fans out there are pretty much dweebs as well - but they're the people who, as you say, haven't read it. They don't realize the concepts of POWER, RACISM, LOVE, ROMANCE (not to be confused with love), FRIENDSHIP, BETRAYAL, etc, that have been entwined into this amazing series. Team Snape.

ladywyze I didn't hate Harry Potter at all. Oh yeah I might have. Long ago and was in the edge of the universe. It just sucks that HP fans judged Twilight when... =.= They've been asking, 'how is twilight beautiful? and etc. etc. etc. Did they ever encounter this question? 'What's with Harry Potter?' Annoying HP fans. Let us leave this two movie and book series in peace, because--approximately two years--they're over. And what? You're all left still debating, fighting? "They're just fictions. They aren't REAL."

HaleyDewit I have to disagree with you when you the first books aren't that good. I think every single book is awesome!

1) Prat
Someone who is described as being dumb or self centered. Usually acts against logic.
e.x. Jeez, Roldolfo is such a prat!

2) Git
Basically, a jerk. Shallow and/or childish.
e.x. Look at that git, strutting around like he owns the place!

3) Err...
The British equivalent of umm...
e.x. "Errr.... is it 42?"

4) Barmy
Insane/Crazy.
e.x. That old mans gone barmy!

5.) Blast
Equivalent to "Dang!"
e.x. Blast! Some git's taken...

I got Breaking Dawn on the araw that it came out and was hoping that Meyer would somehow redeem the steadily deteriorating quality of the Twilight series. What a huge disappointment. I was even madami disappointed when I found out how Meyer was responding to the criticism towards it. Then I discovered that she was Pagsulat Midnight Sun. I looked pasulong to that because, even though all of the books suck, they are a guilty pleasure and Twilight was the best of all of them. Then she stopped writing...

Now to anyone of the teensy-beensy minority that has never heard of Twilight's male protagonist, Edward Cullen, he supposedly a vampire that falls in deep "love" with a human girl named Bella.

Now I must object to this paglalarawan of the Edward and Bella (Edella or Bedward, lol). While the relationship is described as being true love, I personally think that the relationship is any BUT deep, true love. It is, in my, along with many other fanpoppers, opinion that this relationship is extraordinarily unhealthy and codependent, and that Edward's supposed "love" is obsessive love.

Today, I read a post from "youknowit101" on "1000 Reason why Twilight is better than harry Potter", and it completley gave me segundo thoughts about this whole thing between the rival series. According to this guy, he is very ashamed at the HP fans for attacking the Twilight fans and how immature they are, and to be honest, I now couldn't agree more. He's right, HP fans, we are the immature ones, not the Twilighters. We Potterheads are taking HP for granted and using it to rub it in other people's faces.
