it was nothing like the description in the book. It was supposed to be lilac

I was very disappointed. Especially since the whole Cinderella moment was so relying on the dress being nice (as they already essentially gave her a make-over way before then, making the idea of her looking uncharacteristically hot at the ball much more difficult to achieve without feeling forced, since after the 2nd movie she always looked fairly well styled anyway). The only way they could have made her Cinderella moments work was to put her in a really nice dress, and personally I thought the one they picked was very ugly. If anything she kinda looked worse to me at the ball than usual, which sort of worked against the point of the scene. I know it's just a matter of personal taste, but I really didn't like the dress.

The shape of the dress is not really the problem. But I would not have picked PINK as a color. Red would have been more appropriate, as she's a Gryffindor. In DH-1, she wears a red dress and that color suits her really fine.

The dress itself was fine, but it wasn't the dress I was expecting Hermione to wear for the "Cinderella moment" as Mermaid-Tail put it. I think they could have picked something more "wow!"

Simple and elegant.

In the books, the dress was blue and Hermione's hair was a more simple and elegant bun.
Her whole look was not really of my taste.

Even though it didn't resemble the book's description, I absolutely fell in love with the film dress!
