"NO, ALEXANDER!" clan leader Markus yelled. "It is not the way!"
Alexander stood directly on the boundary line, between the two clans: the Dog Clan, and the Cat Clan. Sheila stood a few feet away from him, pain in her eyes. The friendship between Alexander and Sheila was the best thing that had ever happened to either of them. But it was impossible. Because Sheila was a cat, and Alexander was a dog.
The rivalry between the Aso and the Pusa had begun long, long before Sheila and Alexander. They once lived in harmony, sharing the land and farming communities, friendships, and bonds that couldn't be broken sa pamamagitan ng anything, except the one thing, the only thing: the ancient treaty.
One day, the archaeologist Aso and Pusa went on an expedition looking for ancient artifacts from long ago. They found a cavern with a hoard of artifacts and items from the time of their ancestors, hundreds of thousands of years ago. But only one thing mattered to them that day: the treaty.
They found an ancient scroll, yellowed and faded from age, they were barely able to decipher it. It was titled: The Treaty of the Canines and the Felines. It clearly stated that Aso (the canine clan) and Pusa (the feline clan) were never to associate. They were enemies. In the old days, if Aso and Pusa were discovered socializing in any way, they were put to death.
After the treaty was found, the two clans never associated again. They went their separate ways calmly and reasonably, but inside, there was a deep hatred for eachother, resurrected aftrt all these years.
And now Alexander and Sheila both were caught in the middle of it. They had formed an unlikely and impossible friendship and had been meeting in secret in the dead of night just to talk for hours and hours. They loved eachother in a way only the truest and most real mga kaibigan could, and now both of them had to make a choice.
And the strangest thing, while the Aso were furious and pagganap like savages, the Pusa were calm and collected. They didn't seem angry at all. Maybe they had always known...
Alexander's mother reached for him, letting out a strangled cry of remorse. But Alexander's father shook his head and held her back. "Let the boy go," he sinabi sadly. "A canine's gotta do...what a canine's gotta do."
Alexander looked at Sheila. Sheila looked at her clan leader, ckan keader Annalisa. She nodded slowly. "It is...what it is," she sinabi quietly, and the other Pusa nodded in agreement.
"ALEXANDER!" Markus yelled. "HOW COULD YOU? DO YOU SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING? You're...you're...YOU'RE FRATERNIZING WITH THE ENEMY!"
But Alexander padded over to Sheila, over the boundary line of the clan's lands, and looked at her. She looked at him. And together, they faced the clans...and smiled. There was a collective gasp from the dogs, and a smile and a nod from all the cats.
That was when Alexander and Sheila realized something. They belonged with eachother, to eachother. They were two halves...and two halves made a whole. This wasn't fraternizing with the enemy. This wasn't hate...this wasn't despising eachother for no ibingiay reason.
This was friendship.

Have you ever stared at the phone,
waiting for it to ring?
Have you ever looked at him,
and felt so much pag-ibig you almost cried?
Have you ever gazed in someone's eyes,
and felt so safe?
Have you ever wanted something so bad,
you could almost taste it?
Have you ever made a promise,
You just couldn't keep?
Tell the truth.
Have you ever?

I used to think
They were so beautiful
Now all I see
Is darkness
An empty shell
You went through hell
I'm not so sure
What's left of your soul
But in some way
Your eyes
They're still beautiful

But rain pours down
The leaves on trees whisper
to eachother
Thunder roars
Lightning flashes
And people dance in the rain
Caught in the middle
Of the summer storm
