House M.D. Article: Hilson and proud.

Recently I have noticed a startling lack of warmth towards House/Wilson, and doubtless House/anymale as well, but I have yet to investigate this.

My thoughts are, 'why?' Just what do the patrons of Fanpop have against this widely popular 'ship? It has even been adressed sa pamamagitan ng the stars. It's being written into the show, as demonstrated sa pamamagitan ng Don't Ever Change. But in Fanpop, I've seen people say they have been traumatised sa pamamagitan ng it.

Personally, I am very much against House/Cameron, but I don't make fun of the people that support them. I support Huddy, but not to the point where I fight other 'ships for supremacy.

For example, Livejournal has a community for every 'ship, some of which you are probably not even aware of (Taub/Brenda and things of that nature) and their member counts ipakita just how diverse the fans are:

House_Wilson - Watching: 2581 accounts
Member of: 3134 accounts

House_Cameron - Watching: 1701 accounts
Member of: 2262 accounts

House_Cuddy - Member of: 1516 accounts

That doesn't even approach the number of comms, there are at least ten seperate House/Wilsons. And yet, as opposed to Fanpop, far less in the way of Hameron or Huddy.

See what I mean? With so many comms, you expect rivalry, but they're very peaceful, and there is very little bashing. (everyone gets bashed in fics.) So why does Fanpop, who I have always been happy to call hurt-free, seem so disgusted sa pamamagitan ng one of the many slash pairings?

So you can keep your het pairings, and your OTPs, but remember. House/Wilson is a much loved pairing, and it's followers are not there to be mocked or accused of traumatising you.

oldmovie I don't think the majority of us hate Hilson. I for one don't hate Hilson but I just don't ship it. Personally I think they are better as friends rather than lovers. Basically for two reasons: 1. I personally don't want to see House and Wilson together because I don't want either one of them to be gay. I have nothing against gays but it takes away all of the innocence of the jokes and being with each other. It might turn their relationship into a Huddy sort of ship which is made up of sexual tension and there are no moments of pure comedy which House and Wilson have. 2. If the relationship with them doesn't work out then neither Wilson nor House will have their best friend anymore. There will be no more House/ Wilson scenes and we won't get any more closer looks at what House is really like. Personally I don't mind what people ship, as long as they are tolerant of other people's ships. So if you are a Hilson fan, props to you! But don't take it to hard if people don't agree with you.

Miss_Sigma I'm perfectly fine with people not agreeing, I enjoy it actually, but when it gets to the point where people are genuinely laughing at it, then I get annoyed.

sardines Hilson would be great. But it would be a little strange as well. Well I guess it would be strange if House is in a relationship anyway..

EverybodyLies It's just... I don't know, I guess they would make a good couple. I'm just not a fan. And if you look up House/Wilson or Hilson on photobucket, you get some scarring images.

Spotty_Vision21 I ship Huddy and Hilson. Personally, I would love to see Hilson. I like it even more than Huddy.

Hantise00 I'm so glad you made this, Miss_Sigma. I completely agree. I can understand that some do not agree with this 'ship but I see no need for others to be laughing at it. I was going to say something further about those who find images "traumatising" or "scarring" but I won't. I'd rather not make this worse than it is. All that I and Miss_Sigma are asking is that the fans of House/Wilson are treated with the same respect that the rest of the 'ships get.

jameswilson I agree with oldmovie - took the words right out of my mouth.

yoyoder I don't have problems with differents opinions but I don't think Hilson is very likely. They have made it pretty clear that these two aren't gay so it would have to change the 3+ years. I also like their friendship because being in a real relationship either ends in marriage (which isn't quite legal) or plain weirdness in between the two.

Hantise00 To oldmovie, I can see both of your points here. However, I must argue that I see no reason for House and Wilson to lose any of their comedic moments on the show should they become a couple or not. Secondly, I cannot see the show actually bringing them together as lovers so I see no need to worry about their relationship ending badly. I think that if they were to have a brief encounter with one another in which something of a sexual or romantic nature occurs, they would not lose the friendship they always had. I admit, there may be some awkwardness to begin with but I believe that their friendship is so strong it cannot be ruined by something such as this. Finally, I can understand what you mean and I don't take it badly when someone disagrees with the 'ship in general, I just do not see any reason for the said 'ship to be laughed at. We are all fans of the same show but we have different views about some of the characters on that show. I also do not mind who people ship and as you said as long as they are tolerant of other people's 'ships. Tolerance and mutual respect is all Miss_Sigma and I are trying to establish here.

misanthrope86 Well said Hantise00. I think it is very true that we are all fans of the show and that is what is important. I was actually in the middle of writing a Hilson article myself. So I will certainly be taking your thoughts into consideration for my article!
