Which character do you dislike/hate, but cannot help but respect?

You know there's gotta be somebody you may not like at all in the series, but you can't help but respect something about the character. What about the character do you grudgingly respect? It can be anything except physical appearance, because you can't really dislike someone but respect them just because they're 'hot' or something. It's shallow and I won't accept it as a reason to respect them. But otherwise, it could be what they do for their comrades, their will to fight back and/or survive or be free...anything, really.

I HATE Kagome (I'm sure you'll find my reasons around the spot somewhere), but I do respect the compassion she has for her friends. She always thinks of them first and does what she can for them. Soooooo I hate her, but kudos there, at least. XD; What about you guys?

I agree with Hinata-Snow, I would have to say that the character that I pag-ibig to hate the most, and yet respect is definitely Naraku. He's a villain and a vile one, but you have to respect that he's smart and cunning and knows how to take advantage of the worst in people. She really does. =) I mean, yeah, she does cause problems for Kagome and InuYasha. But in that sense she creates angst in the story; without her InuYasha wouldn't be sacrificing anything to be with Kagome. They would just get together and live happily ever after. Which is nice, but...incredibly boring. Kikyo makes InuYasha and Kagome's relationship passionate and meaninful, and interesting. And on her own, Kikyo is powerful, compassionate for others and as you said, has an incredibly strong will.

I dislike Kikyo, but you have to respect her from all what she has been through. Imagine if all of that happened to you. I would probally be doing the same thing as Kikyo did. Poor Kikyo. That's what a lot of people don't consider, all that Kikyo went through. =/ They don't feel any compassion whatsoever. It's really sad. Good answer.
