She did not attend the 2015 MelOn Music Awards and is not planning to attend the 2015 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) and 2015 Golden Disk Awards.
On November 19, various news outlets reported that IU is intentionally boycotting the 2015 MAMA due to past conflicts with Mnet. The reports claim that IU was disappointed with the results of the 2014 MAMA.
Last year, the singer held three performances at the 2014 MAMA. First, she sang her song “Friday,” then N.EX.T’s hit song “Fly, Chick!” in commemoration of Shin Hae Chul, and finally “Seogyeokdong” with Seo Taiji.
IU received two awards at the awards show, but the reports state that she had expected more. Following the 2014 MAMA, the singer did not attend other awards shows.
However, IU’s representatives have addressed these reports about her boycotting the 2015 MAMA and stated, “It’s not true that [she is] boycotting the awards show. We didn’t receive any requests to attend the awards ipakita from the organizers.”

Last month, it was confirmed that EXO, G-Dragon, and Taeyang would be performing at Mnet’s annual music awards show. On November 29, with just four days left until the event, CJ E&M unveiled additional artists, including INFINITE, IU, and SISTAR.
Many fans have already started to express anticipation for what kind of special stages these artists will be putting on for the show.
Meanwhile, voting for the 2014 MAMA began after the listahan of award nominees was revealed this past October 27 through its official website and will continue on until the araw of the event. The awards ipakita will have a total of 17 categories, which consists of five artists, eight genres, two special categories, one artist of the year, and one song of the year.
