Who doesn’t love a good tear-jerking music video? Sometimes, the saddest music videos are exactly what we need. Here is a short list of sad videos we recommend if you’re looking for a good cry or hoping to challenge a friend to see who starts the waterworks first. Warning: these are not for the faint of heart. Keep the tissues close, view at your own risk, and have a friend on standby for any needed emotional support.
Before Kim Ji Eun left YG Entertainment, she released this heart-gripping song on her first album. The video stars
Ku Hye Sun and it’s hard to tell which leading lady gave the better performance.
When NELL returned from their military service, the band jumped right back into the game. Song Jae Rim and Lee Min Ki are entertaining to watch in this gorgeous music video, but don’t expect a happy ending. How far would you go to help grant a friend’s final wish?
What starts out as a strange encounter and a hint of romance that could heal old wounds turns into a tragedy. Kang Min Kyung, one half of this talented duo, stars in this music video.
What a couple in crisis: the girl dying, and the boy getting a second chance to try and change things. While this music video focuses on a couple (played by Song Ji Hyo and JYJ’s Kim Junsu), Kim Jaejoong actually penned this song as a dedication to a close friend who died.
The third-wheel friend watching his best friend get the girl is a fairly common theme. Some of the most heart-wrenching songs use it. This music video takes it to a new level.
Not every sad music video involves romance. Akdong Musician, in their quest to make “healing music,” wrote this song about struggling to find hope in a cold world.
7. SeeYa – “That Person – The Shoes Part 3″
SeeYa may have disbanded, but these talented ladies left us with some of the best ballads. This music video is Part 3 in a series of SeeYa music videos, all featuring different tragedies. Fans of “Reply 1994” will see a few familiar faces.
Did you make it through without a single tear? If so, I applaud you. Ku Hye Sun’s performance had me at number one.
Note: A few more serious music videos were left off this list… aren’t some of these depressing enough? Anything Huh Gak, SG Wannabe, 2 AM’s “You Wouldn’t Answer My Calls,” Bang Yong Guk’s “I Remember,” Kiss’s “Because I’m a Girl,” BIGBANG’s “Haru Haru,” and T-ara, SeeYa, 5Dolls, and SPEED’s “Painkiller” are a few more recommendations. Remember though, watch at your own risk!
