When I woke up the susunod morning, I lay restlessly awake in my bed. I look at the time piece on my nightstand, and it read 6:30.
Two hours have passed and still no one has come to wake me. "Father would've woken me up sa pamamagitan ng now.." I say aloud to myself as I get out of kama and open the curtains. Light poured through the window and it pained my eyes. I looked in the mirror one madami time and my eyes had become red from the sunlight. Red eyes...
"That's it...!!" I shout as I ugoy the door to my room open and dash down the hall. I wasn't sure where I was going, or what urged me to do so but I ran. As I reached the
West Corridor, I spotted a door to my left. But something wasn't right...
I opened the door that led to a long and windy flight of stairs. If there's one thing that living in a mansion my whole life has taught me, its that secret rooms usually lead to things I'll regret knowing in the future; but I had to know. It might be the reason why my father never came to wake me this morning.
Just as I walk down the stairs, the smell of ink and old parchment filled the air. I was already starting to regret going when pictures of murdered woman scattered the walls and desks. I wasn't sure what this room was for, but I knew it was something I wasn't supposed to see. But I did a double-take when I saw a litrato of a woman with long, stringy Blondel hair that fell behind her ear. Out of all the pictures in the wall, she was the only one who was still alive.
She looks quite lovely... I thought as I examined the picture madami closely. On the bottom-right corner of the picture, the initials "MJK" were written in smeared ink. On the mesa susunod to the door, there was a listahan of women's names. But there was something very off that I couldn't put my finger on...
"Mary Jane Kelly…" I sinabi aloud. It was the only name not crossed off on the list. Just saying it made cool chills go down my spine.
I pondered this information for a while, then looked back at the picture. "All these women...the only one who's still alive is this 'Mary Jane Kelly' woman."
But as soon as I sinabi that, I knew I was wrong. For all I knew, the picture could've been taken years before her death.
I decided that I would end my adventure here, and go back to finding my father. "I'm sure he's just late or something..." I sinabi as I walked back up the stairs and into the West Corridor. But I had a feeling that if he was just late, then I wouldn't be worrying over it.
sa pamamagitan ng that afternoon, father still wasn't home. I asked Sebastian about it, but he insisted that he knew nothing. "I went straight to kama after you left my room last night, Young Master." Sebastian pleaded. I didn't think he was lying, but I knew he wasn't telling me everything.
Just then, I heard my mother scream bloody murder. Sebastian and I rushed down the stairs to find my mother on her knees with a postcard in her hand. Her face was red and blotchy and her eyes were filled with tears. I grabbed the postcard and looked at the picture attached to it; it was my father's dead body and in red letters—most likely his blood—it read...
...."To be dyed in the colour of passion, that is the most beautiful gift of life.
-- JTR"
I couldn't believe what I was looking at when I saw a small red strand on my father's corpse. I looked at Sebastian, and we made eye contact. I whispered something in his ear and he nodded.
"Ay, Young Master. It seems as though we have a killer on our hands. Whoever could it be?" Sebastian sinabi with a smile.
"Fine. I'll make a deal with you once more. I will become the new Watchdog of Her Majesty and capture this 'JTR'. Understood, Sebastian?" I sinabi with pride.
"Yes, My Lord"
