The Straw Hat Pirates (麦わらの一味, Mugiwara no Ichimi?) is a pirate crew that started in East Blue. They are the main focus and bayani of the anime and manga One Piece, and are led sa pamamagitan ng the main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. The "Straw Hats" are named after Luffy's signature straw hat that was ibingiay to him sa pamamagitan ng Red-Haired Shanks, and are first referred to as the Straw Hat Pirates sa pamamagitan ng Smoker in Alabasta. ONE PIECE (ワンピース, Wan Pīsu) is a pirate adventure manga written and drawn sa pamamagitan ng Eiichiro Oda, created in August 1997. The manga is known to employ colorful and creative motifs that are taken from classic mythology, politics and musical aspects. It is also mixed with pirate lore and shonen formula.

Eiichiro Oda was inspired sa pamamagitan ng Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump at a young age. As a child he was inspired sa pamamagitan ng Vikings and he aspired to become a manga artist.
