(She turns around to face him.)

Lindsey: I would never regret you.

Lucas: Yeah, you say that now. But what if I’m not Lucas the writer? What if I’m Lucas the small town basketball coach? What if that’s all I’m ever gonna be?

Waiting to give her the ring? Does he mean the same ring he proposed to Peyton with? Cause if he was PLANNING to give a girl the same ring he had given to someone else before her well......seriously that's just not right!

I personally think it's BS cause along with that ring where pictures of P.Sawyer right next to it - why was he waiting to get rid of them?

^^ me too!! its a load of crap that he pulled trying to talk her round. you know what you do tryin to talk yourself out of being in trouble with your mum .. yeah he was doing that with manface!

I'm not a huge fan of lindsey but it pissed me off that she ended up having to reassure HIM that HE's good enough, at that point i thought even Lindsey was too good for Lucas

I think it was a little bit of both; he wanted to believe what he was saying. I still dunno if what he said ("I was waiting to give you the ring until I was sure I had another book in me.") was a last resort to keep lindsey, or if it was him just simply talking out of his bum thinking he knew what he wanted. again, maybe it's alittle of both...I can't say that it was strictly him just pulling crap to get away with the ring in a sock drawer. Cause he did have some sincerity in his voice. He did love her and I believe part of him did wanna marry her.

I do know that he was lying to his heart and lindsey was his #2. I also know that his insecurity was talking when he said "what if I’m not Lucas the writer? What if I’m Lucas the small town basketball coach? What if that’s all I’m ever gonna be?"
He thought Peyton didn't think he was good enough for her cause his novel was going nowhere @ the time "you gave up on me; THAT'S why you said no; you didn't think I could do it; you didn't think I could get my novel published."
So he was afraid Lindsey would think the same; but when lindsey said yes, luke thought at least she thought he was good enough no matter what (that reiterates the article I wrote about luke's psyche in relation to his insecurities & running from his heart). BOY was that guy ever confused, lol. Glad he finally grew up for season 6.

you can tell he was put on the spot and the way he looked at Peyton when she found out...Damn him!!
