Go Ron Then! Rupert Grint Will Play a Hero For New Comic Book Based TV Show
Staff Writer Intern at Movie Pilot. Terrible sense of humour. I enjoy films that make me study theories after.
Rupert Grint will be swapping broomsticks for Lycra in a new American TV show, revolving around a comic book world which becomes a reality. Grint will play the lead role, which was written with him in mind, based upon his own love of comics.
His role will be of a New Yorker who becomes obsessed with his father\'s comic creation, Imperial City. Following his father\'s death, it comes as a shock to discover there is a mysterious, elusive addition in the series.
This then leads his character to discover the fictional city exists within the real world, and he is the only person who can save it. In other words, he\'s the show\'s hero -- yay!
Now, considering these are the only details that have been released, I\'m beyond excited by the prospect of Rupert featuring in this comic book creation, which has been created by Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta.
Although the show has yet to be named, it is rumored to be based on the name of the comic, Imperial City.
The actor is best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter series. See him in the role in the video below:
To celebrate the news, below is a list of four reasons why Rupert will make a great superhero:
1. He\'s not afraid to bite off more than he can chew
Being a hero who is single-handedly responsible for saving an entire city could be daunting for some, but not for Rupert.
At just 11 years old, he was cast to fame as Ron Weasley, in what has became arguably one of the most well known stories of modern times, Harry Potter.
At the age of just 27, he\'s already been acting for an impressive 16 years.
2. He\'s already played a superhero... at least for one episode
Grint previously played a fast food worker who decided to become a Super Hero in
Super Clyde. The pilot, released in 2013, was created by My Name Is Earl creator Gregory Thomas Garcia, and also featured Stephen Fry.
For some bizarre reason, CBS decided not to go forward with the show. However, they have since recovered it and are remaking it with a different cast.
Who wouldn\'t want a friend like Ron Weasley? He\'s a loyal buddy, always going to great lengths to support his friends, no matter how tough the situation.
Every hero needs to be loyal, to a person or a cause. Without loyalty, there would be no motivation to serve the greater good. Plus, in real life, Rupert Grint has remained loyal to the Harry Potter movies, having dedicated a decade to the franchise.
Not wanting to be typecast, Rupert has taken on varied roles outside of that of Ron Weasley.
Mojo, winning the "WhatsOnStage" award for best newcomer.
And one reason he might not make such a good hero...
Like Ron Weasley, Rupert also suffers from arachnophobia -- that\'s a fear of spiders.
Let\'s just hope his evil nemesis doesn\'t find out, or Imperial City could be doomed.
