It's Complicated Chapter Fifty Eight
I got the stage and played a dub step violinist. I could really just let go and dance however I wanted to this song. It was classical but it also had a heavy beat to it. It was the last song I heard before I went deaf. I tried my best to remember how it went.
I hit play and tried to follow the beat. I tried and tried to dance to it. But I could barley hear anything out of the headphones. I had the volume all the way up.
Some guy walked in and was talking. He was not signing at all. I gave him a funny look.
"Sorry, I thought you were hearing," he signed.
"I use to be," I signed as I took off the headphones.
"Oh okay. What were you listening too," he asked.
"A dub step violinist. It was the last song I listened to before I went deaf," I signed.
"Oh, she can really play," he signed.
"If you are hearing, why are you at this school," I asked confused.
"I am slowly losing my hearing. So, my parents thought it would be good to get an early start. But most kids here know I'm hearings," he signed.
"Ahh okay," I signed, "I am so sorry you are going to lose your hearing!"
"I will adjust. How did you go deaf," he asked.
"I don't want to say," I signed.
"Did you dance before you went deaf," he asked.
"Yes and no. I took lesson when I was toddler but nothing since then," I signed.
"That's cool! You are going to laugh, but I was a pretty good dancer until I started losing hearing," he signed.
"No I won't! Awe, I am so sorry," I stated, "did you have to stop because of it?"
"No, I figured I needed to be here learning this incredible language then be off dancing for fun," he signed.
"Oh wow, I bet your parents are proud of you," I signed.
"I guess so," he signed as he shrugged his shoulders.
"Well, they should be," I signed as he smiled.
"How did you learn to do the dance moves you were just doing," he asked signing, "I know that they did not teach you that when you were a toddler!"
"I watched my step-sister and step-brother-in-law dance at a recital. I liked it a lot so I tried to memorize the step," I signed.
"Ahh okay," he signed, "this may sound weird but do you want to try and dance together?"
"I think that'd be fun. Now, I can't hear so you are going to have to lead me," I stated.
"Alright, I will don't worry," he sinabi as he hopped on stage.
It was so awkward dancing with a complete stranger. But soon it was just something we both enjoyed. I started having a lot of fun. We did the waltz and the swing. Eventually we tried just dancing something together but it did not work out at all. We ended up standing there laughing. We were on totally two different beats.
"This is why I told my step-sister that deaf cannot dance," I signed.
"Deaf people can dance too," he signed.
"Yeah but not me," I signed.
"With enough practice you can," he signed.
"Sure," I signed smirking.
"Why has dancing become so important to you lately," he asked.
"I, have to go bed," I signed and tried to walk away.
"Come on, it's too early for that," he said.
"I have to go," I signed.
I jumped off the stage and ran for then door. I bumped into Jasper on my way out.
"Woah, is everything okay," he asked signing.
"Yeah, I just don't like making new friends," I signed.
I looked behind me and the door to the stage room opened.
"Jasper, I want go somewhere else," I signed.
"Okay let's go." He signed, "that's one of my friends. He is nice guy. You should not be afraid of him."
"Thanks," I signed as we walked away.
"What's wrong? Did he do something to you," Jasper asked worried.
"He started asking tanong and I freaked out. I tried to walk away and he grabbed my wrist. He didn't hurt me but I starting to have flashbacks," I signed.
"It's okay Lila," he signed and wrapped me in a hug., "I won't let anything happen to you. I promise!"
I didn't know what to say Jasper so I just smiled and hugged him again.
"I am going to head to bed," jasper signed, "see you in the morning!"
"Okay, goodnight," I signed.
The susunod morning I woke up to Jasper waking me up.
"You are going to be late for breakfast," he signed.
"Ugh, I didn't hear my alarm," I sign as I sat up.
"Lila, you are deaf that might be why," he signed a bit sarcastically.
"Wow, I totally forgot about that," I sinabi sarcastically, "the flash never woke me up!"
"That explains it. When did your roommate ilipat out," Jasper asked as he pointed across the room.
"I don't know? I did not realize she was gone," I stated.
"Wow, no wondered she moved out," Jasper signed laughing.
"I have to get ready," I signed.
"Okay, I'll meet ya down stairs," he signed and left.
I hurried myself up this morning. I hated being rushed to get ready. I liked to be lazy and just walk around and take my time. But I finished and went down stairs to breakfast.
"Hey, I am up and not ready for school," I signed.
"Same here, I wanted the weekend to last longer," Jasper signed.
"Yeah," I sinabi as I got in line for food.
"So you were talking to Scotty last night," Jasper sinabi signing.
"Oh, I didn't know that was his name," I signed.
"Yeah, so what did y'all talk about," he asked curiously.
"He was asking me how I went deaf and stuff. I just can't tell anyone. The words won't come out of my mouth," I signed, "well, technically I can't sign the word."
"Would you rather me explain it to him? If you even want him to know," jasper asked.
"I don't know. I should really tell people myself," I stated, "I will eventually get comfortable with tell people!"
"That's right," he signed, "it takes time."
Jasper and I sat at the same mesa and talked that morning.
"Where are your mga kaibigan at," I asked.
"Playing basketball, they got up early to eat and then go play,' he signed.
"And you didn't want to go," I asked.
"I did but I wanted to make sure you were okay. And that you would wake up on time," Jasper joked.
"Right; if you want you can go sumali them and I will come in there in a little bit," I signed.
Okay thanks," he sinabi signing.
He got up and practically sprinted to the basketbol courts.
I finished eating and made my way there. I noticed the door opened and in walked Jacob Black. I stopped where I was at. I stood there still hoping he would not notice me.
"Hey Lila, are you okay," Scotty asked me.
"Umm, sorta," I sinabi as I walked away, "how did you find me?!"
"Dad told me where you were," Jake said.
"You cannot be hear! What about that restraining order," I asked almost yelling.
"Lila, you do not have to yell! People will hear you," he said.
"Jacob everyone here is deaf," I stated, "do you understand what that means?!"
"Don't get smart with me," he demanded, "what are you looking at?!"
I turned around to see Scotty still standing there.
"Help me and I will explain later," I signed.
"Lila, I am talking to you," Jacob sinabi Scotty came and stood susunod me.
"What do you want," I asked nicely as possible.
"Ella is getting married soon and she wants us to be on good turns for the wedding," he sinabi as he continued talking and I got lost.
"Scotty can you interpret the last part," I asked aloud.
"He sinabi that you two will be walking down the isle together," he signed.
"No, no, no way," I said, "I am not touching you at all. I don't even want to be near you?!"
"Whether you like it or not, we are going to be in this wedding together. I want Ella to be happy and if that means I am dragging you down the isle so be it," Jake sinabi as Scotty interpreted.
"Jacob you better leave here before I call security," Jasper's voice rang through room.
"Remember what I said, whatever makes her happy," Jake sinabi through his teeth.
Jake stood there and glared at me as Jasper came to my side.
"I will personally talk to Ella. Just leave me alone," I said.
"Jake this is your final warning," Jasper threatened.
"Can it deaf boy! The restraining order is up," Jake sinabi as I almost fell to the ground.
Jake turned around and walked out the door. I never ran so fast to my bedroom before. I got there and locked the door behind me. I went to the window and watched Jake leave.
I started crying. The fear of standing in front of him washed over me and I broke down. I slid to the floor and wrapped my arms around my legs. I was sobbing.
I felt someone touch me and I screamed in defense.
"Shh, it's just Jasper," he said.
I felt his arm balutin all the way around me and I just sat there crying.
