Another request from a fellow SE shipper :) This time I will be talking about what really differentiates those two scenes from each other and which one really has its spell over us.

With Stefan and Elena— they did make pag-ibig in this scene but I won’t be talking about that specific part just to stay on par with Damon and Elena’s scene since they did not go that far in their scene. Just want to keep it fair.

So let’s get down to it. There are really two factors that greatly ipakita the contrast between the two scenes. That’s atmosphere, and the emotional dynamic. With Damon and Elena’s scene there was something that felt a little shady, or cheap. Now I don’t mean to say that to hate on the writers, or the characters but it didn’t have a lot of class. Something tells me it wasn’t really supposed to. The halik took place outside of a hotel, and in the back ground there were flourecent lights flickering. Damon had his sando undone, and they ended up against a pader and just giving themselves over to the pure, physical excitement. That was your atmosphere. Something about it just screamed that it was dirty, or wrong. It was about an itch she couldn’t scratch or the moment of “being bad feels pretty good.”

As far as the emotional dynamic—there was none. There was a lack of emotional pull. The only feelings that were flying around were confusion, uncertainty, and temptation. There was no romance involved. There was such a disconnect. It was madami about “shut up and let me halik you” than anything. It was really Elena using Damon to figure it out, or to get what she wanted. One could call it passionate, but mark my words—-they weren’t passionate emotions from the heart. It was really through their bodies. Elena did not make a romantic, or beautiful revelation to Damon before halik him, nor did Damon to her. Again, I understand that Damon and Elena do care about one another but so much of what was happening in that scene was about sex—-it was about feeling, or being pleased through your senses. Ultimately it lacked any emotional pull, or any real depth.

The atmosphere with Stefan and Elena’s scene was very soft and beautiful. It was outside the boarding house with soft lighting against the night sky. Once they moved inside there was madami dim lighting and they were home. So that was your atmosphere. It was classy. It was romantic. It was Stefan and Elena.

But here is where they really win me over. The atmosphere was nice, but it’s the emotional dynamic that really steals the scene. See there was no confusion or uncertainty surrounding them. She knew what she wanted. She told him she loved him. And if that wasn’t amazing enough there’s an even madami stunning scene right afterwards. He’s ashamed of what he is—of his monstrous face. But she tells him not to hide from her. He reluctantly turns and when he does she is taken aback. She isn’t scared—-she’s not uncertain. She places her hands on his face in a breath taking moment of acceptance. Her eyes—-she thinks he’s beautiful. Then there’s this moment where if you’re not paying close attention you may lose it. He gets this brief expression on his face where he can’t believe it. He’s perplexed sa pamamagitan ng her reaction, her acceptance—-her love. The level of depth is truly undefinable.

In conclusion, it’s all just perhaps a matter of opinion or preference yet again. It’s about what people want to see, experience, or feel. Damon and Elena’s scene adhered madami to ecstacy, or excitement alone. It was primal and urgent. If you’re a Delena tagahanga then the scene will stay with you. It’s only natural. For me it burned out as quick as it happened. It was there and then it wasn’t. They acted on lust, and felt a kind of passion for the external senses. But if it’s pag-ibig you want then look no further than Stefan and Elena. What we saw where two people who were passionately in love. It wasn’t about the short burst of pleasure, or excitement. It was a feeding of the soul. It was a beautiful, unconditional acceptance and pag-ibig for the other person. That’s what carried their passion, and that’s what makes it endure. Their eyes are on each other. It’s a kind of intimacy that no one else can claim. No one…
