I woke up the susunod morning to another heat wave. Duncan was susunod to me, his head on my shoulder. I stood up and stretched. Sighing, I walked over to my bag to get a change of clothes. I decided on a black tank tuktok with a neon green one over it, then a black short sleeved dyaket with neon green trimmed sleeves. Then I also wore my black jeans and combat boots. then I felt someone tap me on the shoulder. I turned around to see Duncan smiling at me. I smiled back at him and finished pulling on my jacket.
"Ready for today?" he asked me while he pulled on his usual sando and jeans.
"I guess." I said. Then there was a jolt. "We're here." I sinabi while I walked into the common area. The door was open, and I saw Alejandro, Heather, and Cody already out there. I looked at the scenery. "The Serengeti?" I muttered to myself while Duncan and I walked over to the other players. Then Chris walked over in what looked like a dress. We all burst into laughter.
"Nice dress!" Duncan sinabi through his laughter.
"It's traditional Masi warrior garb. And it came with this!" he sinabi while he held up a spear, throwing it at Duncan's knees. Duncan jumped over it, the spear cutting a hole in his jeans.
"Hey! Watch it!" Duncan screamed.
"That's the least dangerous thing that'll happen to you today." Chris sinabi with an evil smile. "Welcome to beautiful Tanzania. tahanan of the Serengeti planes. And over seventy different kinds of mga hayop that can kill you." He said. I gulped. Sure, I was used to being around animals. But I never remember working with "wild" wild cats. "Okay. Now that you're all scared shitless, we can start the first challenge." He sinabi while he led us over to a patch of dirt with various items at one end. He turned to us. "Your first challenge combines two of Africa's most popular sports; putbol and cricket. I call it, Soc-it to me!" he said, hoping we would laugh at his joke.
The only noise was the damo moving in the hot wind.
"The me, being you of course." He said. Then I noticed Chef was wearing a winter coat.
"Is Chef expecting a blizzard?" Heather asked. Chris told us all about that Chef helped a contestant cheat... again, and he needed to be punished. Thus, the dyaket in the Goddamn Serengeti.
"Okay. Each player must run one at a time from the starting line to that pile of African Safu plums. Grab as many as you can carry, and run back. And you'll be doing all of this while your mga kaibigan pummel you with putbol balls."
"We are not friends!" Heather and Alejandro sinabi at the same time while pointing to each other.
"Aw, cute!" Chris exclaimed with a smile.
"Ooh. Pummeled sa pamamagitan ng a putbol ball. How painful." Duncan sinabi sarcastically. Then Chris kicked a ball at him. But Chris somehow missed and hit me instead.
"Ow!" I screamed while I fell to the ground. "Damn you Chris!"
"You were saying?" Chris asked.
"I didn't say anything!" I screamed while I stood up.
"Next, take the plums back, and whack 'em with a cricket bat to knock those gourds open. Like this." He sinabi while he hit a kaakit-akit with the cricket bat, the kaakit-akit hitting Chef instead of the gourd. "Whoever cracks their gourd open first, wins a reward that will be really helpful in the susunod challenge. Now! Positions people!" Chris called to us. "Cody, you're up first." He said.
Heather, Duncan, Alejandro, and I took our places behind a line of putbol balls. This shouldn't be too hard. Cody started running, Heather kicking the first ball. It barley missed Cody. He got the plums, and picked up an armful. Then he started running back. Duncan kicked his ball and it hit Cody in the face. The scrawny male fell down, dropping his plums.
"Okay. Heather, you're up!" Chris said. Heather walked to the starting line and started running to the pile of plums. Alejandro quickly knocked Heather down with his putbol ball. I looked over at Duncan who was standing susunod to me.
"They like each other." I said.
"No doubt." He responded with a smile.
"Okay. Heather's boyfriend, you're up." Chris sinabi while looking at Alejandro. Both of the teens blushed while he walked to the starting line. Then he started running. Since someone related to him is probably a professional putbol player, I decided to kick the ball while his back was to me.
And it worked. "Alright. Gwen, you're up." Chris said. I walked to the starting line. Then I started running. Since most of the balls were aimed close to the ground, I easily jumped over them. Duncan wouldn't dare hit me with a putbol balls, and neither would Cody. I was good. I grabbed as many plums as I could, and ran back. I dropped them behind the finish line, and walked back over to my putbol ball.
Duncan was the last to go. No way was I going to kick my putbol balls at him.
He came back with an armful of plums. Then we started trying to break our gourds.
It took me two shots to get the gourd open. susunod was Alejandro. Then Duncan broke his open with his cricket bat. Then Cody missed completely. Then we saw we had slingshots and pockets to hold our tranquilizer balls.
Then... we had to hunt Ezekiel. Chris showed us how the tranq balls worked sa pamamagitan ng throwing one at an intern. He smiled when the intern fell to the ground. "See? It's like paintball, only with naps!" he said. I rolled my eyes while he handed me my pocket back with six tranq balls inside. I attached it to my belt, and then placed my slingshot in my back pocket. Alejandro, Heather, and Duncan got three. And Cody got one ball without a slingshot.
Then, we all split up. Duncan, Alejandro, and I teamed up. We offered our help to Heather, but she denied. So, the three of us went our Zeke hunting.
"Hunting prey is like stealing a car. The madami lookouts you have, the better." Duncan sinabi to me while we walked. Then Alejandro showed us the three balls he estola from Heather. "Are you sure you haven't been to jail?" Duncan asked him.
A while later, we thought we saw Zeke. All three of us threw a tranq ball, but ended up getting hit sa pamamagitan ng Cody and Heather. And that's the last thing I remember before I blacked out.
