I heard the story for E.T The Extra-Terrestrial was based on a Bollywood script...?

In the 60s Satyajit sinag published a short called
Banku Babu's Friend (Bankubabur Bandhu)
and a Hollywood group had asked him to
turn it into a film scenario that was to be titled "The Alien".

The similarity between stories can be seen with
Mr. Satyajit's alien landing accidentally and having
an immediate pag-ibig for flowers.

The Indian-American movie project was cancelled
sometime after 1967.


The 1982 Spielberg version made profits worth 800 000 000$
(not counting toys and merchandise sales)
