Unless the animals are being rescued, then zoos are unnecessary and cruel to animals who belong in the wild.

I hate the animal-shows most.

from a conservation view point zoos serve a purpose. but i really feel for the animals there sometimes they always look so unhappy.

most U.S. zoos are for captive born animals and injured animals, zoos rarely take in animals from the wild without a good reason...also, zoos will help preserve the endangered animals that some countries harm...like the giant gorillas in africa...though some zoos seem sad, they do extend the life expectancy of many animals, there is a seal at the SF zoo that is 35 years old and perfectly healthy, when most seals live to 20-25...

well technically ginger_snaps you dont know whats happened to the animals. some could have been rescued, smoe might have been born in caotivity andf wouldnt be able to take care of themselves.

i like every thing in the zoo except the reptile house

It's not so much that I dislike zoos,it just makes me sad to see some of the animals that naturally belong in the wild (eg. hippos,rhinos) locked up in cages.

yes and no .. dont like because all of that animals lock up in there cage´s , and It makes me happy when I see some of them , which I probably wouldnt see if there werent in zoo.
So yes and no!

Though I'd prefer to see the animals in the wild.

I agree with litl-gold-laf I think animals should be free and some animals look so sad in those cages. I wouldn't like to be in a cage and have people look at me.

I do and I don't! I think animals should be free, but I also think that zoo's teach about the endangered animals!

in most zoos the animals are very well cared for. so i like most zoos. and plus they also help with conservation programs.

Zoos are horrible!! Animals are kept in small cages and some are chained to the wall and get gawped at in their unhappiness >:(

Wildlife parks are better. They have more space and are free to roam about. I went to one once a lemur jumped onto the path and let us stroke it!! It was sooooo cute!! :)

i've always gone to the zoo in my area alomst all the time. and beleive me, if there's one thing I learn about zoos is that it's a place where people can experince animals that they would not normaly see on T.V. or to breed endangered animals and save their population.

i like zoos because i get to see lots of wild animals their! but i dont like zoos because they take wild animals and put them in cages. i only like it if they are saving an animal. its better than just taking them from their habitat! LEAVE THEM IN THE WILD PLEZ! they cant survive in cages for most of their life! they need to be in their own habitat! i bet the animals in the zoos dont like being kept in cages! its mean!!! I honestly do like zoos and dont understand why people dont. I understand that the cages are horrible, but theyre not treated bad and its only to save their species.

Honestly, the animals are protected there from poaching and illegal hunting. So they are there for protection.
