The Joker is one of the most popular villains in all of fiction. He was already popular in the comics, but his appearances in telebisyon and films have made him soar to new levels of fame. Cesar Romero was the very first actor to play the Joker. Since then, the Joker has been played sa pamamagitan ng Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix, all of whom are Oscar winners.
It's hard to keep track of all the different Joker actors, because there's been so many. An actor that deserves madami attention is Rene Requiestas. Rene Requiestas was a legendary comedian in the Philippines. He passed away in his mid 30's, but his legacy lives on as one of the greatest Filipino comedians of all time. While he is a beloved icon in the Philippines, I believe he also deserves to be a celebrated actor in America.

Like Cesar Romero, he has a mustache and a good sense of humor, but Rene's Joker was madami than just a throwback to the 60's show. This version of the Joker actually has a real name and backstory. Jocson was a student that was rejected sa pamamagitan ng girls for his goofy appearance and attitude. The girls were much madami interested in Kevin, the guy who becomes Robin in the film. The only person that seems to care about Jocson is his uncle. However, his uncle isn't a nice guy. Jocson's uncle was a crime boss. After getting out of prison, Jocson's uncle wants to start comitting crimes as the ibong dagat and he wants Jocson to be his Joker. The two of them, along with Catwoman and some henchmen and henchwomen, start doing crimes. In order to stop Joker and Penguin, Kevin and his older brother become the Dynamic Duo.
Alyas Batman En Robin might sound like a strange film. It is. It's one of the strangest films that I've ever seen, but that's a big part of what makes the film so memorable and entertaining.
As for the Joker, Rene Requiestas played one of the funniest Jokers that there's ever been. Jocson isn't a scary, overly-violent monster. This take on the Joker is very eccentric, goofy and wild. Rene's passionate energy is an absolute joy to watch. His laugh is one of the better Joker laughs. Rene had great chemistry with Panchito Alba, the actor who plays the Penguin. They made quite a comedic duo.
Despite being in a silly parody, Rene's Joker is one of the most sympathetic versions of the character that there's ever been. Usually, the Joker is the most vile and sinister of the Batman villains. However, this Joker is a guy who can't catch a break. His classmates don't take him seriously, the girls make fun of him and the only family member he seems to have treats him like a henchman. Jocson does a lot of the work for his demanding uncle, but his uncle treats him with disrespect. In a weird way, Jocson can be compared to Arthur Fleck, the version of the Joker that Joaquin Phoenix played. Of course, Joaquin's version was a lot darker, but I still see Jocson as a similar type of tragic villain.
Rene's Joker gives us something that we rarely get to see with the Joker, which is a redemption arc. Yes, Jocson and his uncle eventually see the error in their ways. Batman and Robin actually end up forgiving them. Since this film is a goofy parody, Jocson's redemption arc is very exaggerated and silly, but I still find it sweet. Alyas Batman En Robin doesn't end with a violent, intense climax between the Dark Knight and the Clown Prince of Crime. Instead, it ends with Batman and Joker pag-awit about redemption and believing in love. It might be ridiculous, but personally, I find it really cute.

His commit to giving audiences smiles and laughs is what makes his version of the Joker so appealing. Some people might consider Rene's Joker to be nothing madami than a cheap joke. However, I see Rene's Joker as a unique and lovely version of the Joker.

In modern times, the darker version of the Joker seems to be the most popular version. Personally, I think that a dark Joker works, but I prefer a Joker that's madami fun. The Joker from the classic comics, cartoons and 60's telebisyon ipakita was one of the most entertaining villains of all time. Rene's Joker made the Joker incredibly enjoyable.
