I lay on the cold stone floor in the old church. Katherine lay with the tuktok of her head opposite the tuktok of mine, so I couldn’t see her. I could see that Bonnie was trying to stay strong but I could see it in her eyes that she was just as scared as I was.
“Are you…comfortable?” she asked awkwardly. I nodded weakly and she rifled in her pocket. She pulled out the piece of paper that contained the spell and placed it down beside me. I tried to open my eyes but it was impossible. And then all of my pain disappeared. I felt warm and contented. I opened my eyes to see Bonnie with tears streaming down her face and shaking me. I reached out my hand to tell her it was ok but she didn’t respond. I began to rise up and soon I was floating above them. I felt so at ease and relaxed; all my stress and worry had gone completely. I looked down to see my lifeless, cooling corpse laying still. I was dead. My soul was just floating in mid-air. But it didn’t seem to matter.
“Witch! Hurry up! Continue the spell!” I heard Katherine order. Bonnie immediately and obediently obeyed due to the compulsion and began to chant something different. But before she began, I felt as though I was being pulled upwards, and I wanted to follow. A warmth consumed me and I closed my eyes. I wanted to let myself be taken further into the warmth.
“NOOOO!” I heard someone scream. I opened my eyes slowly to see Damon- my dear Damon – at the doorway of the church, eyes wide. He rushed to my dead body’s side and doubled over as he realised I was gone.
“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!” He cried out angrily. He began to advance on Bonnie.
“NO! Damon, if you interrupt this now there’s madami of a chance that you’ll never see her again! Just wait!” Bonnie sobbed. He couldn’t seem to move. Tears ran down his face.
