She loves Jacob because he was there when she needed him the most, like he filled a void in her darkest times. He made her happy for a time being, however when Edward returned all the repressed feelings she had just came crashing down on her. As they say the first pag-ibig always makes an impact in one's life, in this case it made madami than an impact, it left a great big hole. Edward is perfect for Bella(some may disagree) but Jacob was too. Bella's soft, submissive, stubborn, romantic, seductive side was drawn to Edward and her tendency to paghahanap for trouble may have acted as a cause for the unconscious attraction. Whereas her daring, carefree, depending side was drawn to Jacob. It was madami like displacement of feelings to Jacob when Edward left, he was the segundo best thing. The most obvious similarity, they are both supernatural and they both are trouble.

She loved Jake because she was her best friend.He was there for her when she needed him the most.When Edward left if it wasn't for him she would suffer much more.Not that every araw away from Edward wasn't a torment for her but when she was with Jake the clouds drifted away even for a while

When Edward came back she didn't just forget Jacob.She loved him as a friend and felt guilty bacause she was hurting him.Plus he was the link with her human life...he wasn't just a friend..he was family and maybe if she's never met Edward he would be the one for her...

The strange connection between them maybe it was because of Nessie.After all after Bella gave birth to her everything fell into place not just for Jacob but for her too...She didn't feel any special bond between them anymore..he was just her friend...as he should be from the beginning.
