what did edward mean when he sinabi "carlisle was right" in new moon?

this is the part where bella is in italy and finally reaches edward in the alley and prevents him from walking out into the sun..and when edward sees her he says that quote..do you guys know what he meant sa pamamagitan ng it?

edward didn't believe that he could go to heaven (being a vampire and all). but when he saw bella, he thought the volturi had killed him, and that he was in heaven with bella. earlier in the book, carlisle was telling bella that he believed that Bampira could go to heaven, and that he didn't think they were soulless the way edward did.

edward always thought that he will end up in hell becuz he had Nawawala his soul when he changed into a vampire but carlisle always thought it dependes on what you do if it's good you will go to heaven and if it's bad you will go to hell,so when edward went to italy to kill him self after he thought that bella is dead ,he thought they both met in the other life or in another word Heaven ,so he thought carlisle is right !long story right ? can't keep it short!
