I heard Emmett coming, and the segundo he'd come through the door, I'd been furious with him for the vampire joke. I'd phased in midair.

Before long I had him held down and started ranting at him. I was pretty sure my point was made.

Just then, Renesmee ran out of the house and screamed at us to stop.

I stepped back immediately; I didn't want to make her upset. She told us that we'd scared her.

I wanted so badly to make her feel better.

I padded up to her and have her a lobo hug. She scratched behind my ear, and I was sure I started humming.

Emmett pretended to gag, then left.

I wasn't sure how long we stayed that way, I was just aware of Renesmee. Only her.

I barely noticed when Blondie's high pitched screams were heard; maybe Edward had taken my idea and put blue hair dye in her shampoo. Or poured syrup on her bed. Or - well, you get the picture.

Then I turned my attention on Renesmee, who'd started swaying a little on her feet. I nudged her back in to the house, and she just collapsed on the couch.

I phased back, then fetched a pair of cuttoffs for myself.

I draped a blanket over her, then pulled her into my arms.
