"All I can tell you is what I think about her." Carlisle told me.

I nodded for him to go on.

He sighed and leaned foward, folding his hands on his desk. "I think that Bella is the strongest woman, besides your mother, I have ever met. She's twenty-two years old and has been working here for two years. She graduated highschool at 16 and a few weeks after she graduated she had a son who's father died a week before he was born. Killed sa pamamagitan ng a drunk driver.

"She raised him on her own with the help of her brother Emmett, who is our x-ray tech, her father and her best friend Alice who works with her a few floors down. Her mother left her and her father when she was four and her father died last taon of a sudden puso attack. He was a perfectly heathly man. It killed her."

I nodded taking it all in.

"Son," He sighed. "If you are trying to get do know her without actually doing so, it's not going to work. She is the kind of person who words won't do justice. You have to actually get to know her. What brought this on?" He asked.

I ran my hand thorugh my hair. "I talked to Sara last night." He nodded, letting me know he was listening. "And she told me she didn't want me to be alone forever and for me to try. So, I'm trying."

"Okay. Why Bella?" He asked.

"I don't know. It's just..." I looked around the room trying to find words. "Okay, this morning we ran into eachother on the stairs and we instently started talking and getting along. It's so easy to smile around her and I can't remember the last time I really and truly smiled. She makes me laugh and I pag-ibig hearing her laugh. She's just...."

"Undescribable?" He smiled.

"Yeah." I smiled back. "I haven't felt like this since Sara and to be honest...I'm really scared."

"About what?"

"Everything."

"Her age? Your 24. Your feelings? They're real. Her son?"

"No. I could care less if she had three kids. The fact that she has a son doesn't change anything for me."

"Good." He smiled and nodded.

"I'm just scared I'm going to mess something up. Say something too soon, scare her off...something."

"Listen. Bella is a very strong person and she doesn't ipakita her feelings often. She hurts too Edward. Riley was the father and she loved him dearly. She has had to raise her son without the help of him. She has built up walls. Brink walls. Brick walls surrounded sa pamamagitan ng concreat. Help her take down those walls brick sa pamamagitan ng brick. Don't rush into anything. Let her lead you. Trust me, she needs you just as much as you need her."

I nodded.

"Thank you for stopping sa pamamagitan ng but I have a patient to see to." She clapped me on the shoulder as he left the room.

I checked my watch and noticed the time was 10. We had been sitting and talking for 2 hours. I picked myself up off the chair and made my way down to x-ray.


Bella POV

"Well, Emma." I wiped the alcohol pad over her arm and gave her a round care madala bandaid. "It looks like you deserve a sucker."

"I didn't cry at all!" She smiled.

I laughed and stuck out the sucker jar. "Pick which ever color you like."

"I want....blue." She smiled and pulled out a blue sucker. "It makes my mouth and teeth blue."

"That's why they are my favorite, too." i winked.

I told her goodbye and went to find Alice.

"Hey." He smiled. "How did the shot go?"

"Great." I simled back and took a upuan beside her.

"Rose should be here any segundo with Mason." She held up her phone. "She texted me about five minutos ago. She couldn't a hold of you."

I pulled my phone out of my scrub pocket. I had two missed calls from Rosalie.

"It's offically 11:30." Aice jumped up. "Lunch tinme!"

I laughed and jumped up in her. Having skipped breakfast this morning I was starving.

We talked about how she and Jasper, the neurosergeon, we doing. They had been dating for a little over a taon and a half. Three months after starting work here, she shows up at my door step at eight-thirty to tell me that Jasper had kissed her that night...whoopie.

"Momma!" My attention instantly directed to the little voice. He let go of Rosalie's hand and ran to me. I caught him in my arms and tood up, hugging him tight.

"Hey, baby." I smiled.

"Rose and I will just go ahead. You have fun at lunch." Alice winked.

"Wait." Rose held up her hand and alice grabbed hold of her arm. "What does she mean?" I could hear her voice getting madami distant. "What do you mean?"

I laughed and rumpled Mason's hair. "Momma? Why aren't we going with Aunt Rose and Aunt Alice?"

"Because we are having lunch with a new doctor today." I smiled and set him on the floor. I held his hand and we started for the caf.

"Who is it?" He looked up at me through his blond curls.

"His name is Edward."

"Oh." He nodded. "But it's a boy doctor?"

I laughed. "Yep."

"Yes!" He jumped. "Finally another boy!"

I smiled and took him though the pagkain line. He got a hot dog, chips, a juice box, and a cookie. I gabbed a tuna sanwhich, chips, a sprite and a tsokolate cupcake.

"Come one, Mason." I yelled to him. He was looked through the kouk cooler, picking up and drpping ice. I really hoped no one ate that ice.

I took out a twenty from my wallet and handed it to the cashier. "I'm sorry, Bella. Both of your meals are already paid for."

"Hu?" Who? How?

She shrugged. "I was just told to charge the card and let you through."

"Um." I cocked an eyebrow. "Okay." I stuffed the money back in my pocket. "Thank's Kate."

"No problem." She smiled

We had gotten to the middle of the room before Mason noticed I didn't pay. "Momma?" He gasped. "Did you steal our food?"

"No." I laughed. "Someone already paid for it."

"Oh, okay." He sighed.

I spotted Edward. He was sitting sa pamamagitan ng a window opening his Sprite with a grin on his face. No way.

"did you pay for our food?" I asked as I pulled out a chair of Mason.

"Maybe." He smiled and took a drink.

"How did you know?" I asked.

"Emmett." He stated simply.

"Edward this is my son, Mason. Mason, this is Edward."

"Hi." Mason smiled. Weird. He was usually really shy.

"Hello Mason. My name is Mason too." Edward brought his head down a little lower to get closer to Mason.

"But Momma sinabi your name was Edward." He cocked his head to the side.

Edward chuckled and sat up straighter. "It is. Mason is my middle name. Edward Mason Cullen."

"Oh. My name is Mason Anthony Cullen." Mason was normally shy and tucked himself away in my side. Right now, I'm sure that if I tried to do that now, he would bite me.

"I like that name, kid." Edward smiled and ruffled his hair.

I now noticed that Edward, too, had a tuna sandwhich, chips, a Sprite and a tsokolate cupcake.

Just as Edward had promised, I didn't have to talk to him. I didn't even have a chance. Mason kept on talking and Edward would listen and answer every dumb tanong he would ask.

"I'm going to go get another cupcake." Edward smiled and stood up.

"Can I come?" Mason's eyes widened and he looked at me.

"I don't care." I shook my head. "It's up to Edward."

"Sure." Edward stcuk out his hand and walked away with Mason in tow.

I smiled at them and took a sip of my sprite.

"Bella!" Emmett's booming voice was right at my ear.

"Damn!" I threw my hand back, sure to hit him somewhere. I hit his stomache. "Don't do that."

He took Edward's seat. "Having fun?" He smiled.

"I guess." I laughed. "I haven't had a chance to say something since we sat down.

"Oh!" Alice showed up to my left. "You know what that means? Mason obviously loves him, you obviously like him..."

"Alice if you say s-"

"Soulmates!" She clapped.

"That." I sighed. "Guys, you know that isn't going to happen."

"Bella, you can't stay alone forever. Neither can Mason. Don't worry about him now. He obviously loves Edward and Edward seems to pag-ibig him too. You can't deny it."

No...no I couldn't. "I just don't know how to play anymore."

"Do what ever you're puso says to do. Not your head. It's not your puso stuck on Riley it's your head." Emmett commented.

"We better go before they get back." Alice pulled on Emmett's arm and they went back to their mesa where Rose and Jasper were.

"Momma! Look! Edward bought me another cookie!" Mason smiled and ran over to me. A sharp cough came from Emmett's direction...and mouth.

"Edward you didn't have too." I shook my head.

"He looked like he wanted one so bad." Edward laughed. "I couldn't help it."

"Momma tought me how." Mason smiled.

"No." Edward shook his head, a crooked grin on his face.

"Don't believe him?" I asked and he shook his head.

"I really wish I had another cupcake." I looked up at Edward who's mouth hug slightly.

"Here." He laughed. "Take it."

"No." I shook my head. "I was kidding."

"No you weren't. Take it. I can buy another." He set it down on my tray.

I smiled, picked it up and took a bite into it. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try.
