"The Lipstick Liberal Show"
ipakita creator/writer/performer NICOLE MYRICK appears as the Lipstick Liberal, a sexy and soulful lipstick wearing mouthpiece for injustice, using her comedic wit, intellectual prowess, and sassy seductive appeal, to reveal the ‘dirty deeds’ she believes our Republican Leaders are really up too.
Throughout the episodes, the Lipstick Liberal transforms into a Russian spy, a mob wife, a gun wielding soldier and a 1950’s housewife, among other characters.
I recently had a chance to catch up with The Lipstick Liberal (aka Nicole Myrick) to find out madami about her witty web series, her contributions to PoliticusUSA and her new campaign to “Save Stephen Colbert.”
HOLLY: For those who haven’t had a chance to check out your politically inspired comedic webseries “The Lipstick Liberal” -- give them brief overview of what they’re missing.
LIPSTICK LIBERAL: They are missing Stephen Colbert/Jon Stewart/Rachel Maddow and Marilyn Monroe all rolled up into one trying to help save the tsaa Partiers, Republicans and Conservative Americans from themselves!
HOLLY: Looks like you think political comedian Stephen Colbert needs some help -- what’s your “Save Stephen Colbert” campaign all about?
LIPSTICK LIBERAL: That there is no way Stephen Colbert would ever be so mean to liberal women and support the Republicans in their War On Women, unless he was being held hostage and forced to say such things!
It came out of the original "War on Women" series that showed the insanity of Republicans restrictions and barbaric laws on women's reproductive rights. Stephen Colbert had (and always has) a brilliant way of ipinapakita this ludicrousness (basically calling liberal women “sluts”), so it occurred to me that using him as a catalyst, I could ipakita the audience the ludicrousness without shaking my finger at them. I prefer to use a gun, helmet and a push-up bra instead!
HOLLY: The Lipstick Liberal also joined the independent news website PoliticusUSA (link) as a contributor earlier this taon -- how’s that been going and what are you currently working on for that site?
LIPSTICK LIBERAL: I was discovered sa pamamagitan ng PoliticusUSA writer Adalia Woodbury, after someone forwarded her my Memorial araw ipakita honoring Rush Limbaugh & Andrew Breitbart, as fallen war bayani in the Right-Wing Conservative War ( I know Rush isn't dead yet, but come on, how much hate and Doritos can a puso take?!). The Managing Editors, according to Adalia, loved the ipakita and wanted a different episode every day, but since I still have a “day job" working with the Special Education department at a local Charter School (I was a Special Education teacher in a nakaraan life), we were not able to accommodate that request.
What we ARE doing is providing PoliticusUSA with weekly episodes up and through the Presidential Election this November. They also requested a specific Voter ID Series dealing with the Koch Bros. and individual state's attacks on voter rights. It has been an enormous undertaking, but totally worth it. My Twitter following & You-Tube viewership has tripled since the summer, and we are now at a level that any portion of my 2-minute episodes can be used on other shows; Maddow, Chris Mathews, Current TV, Colbert, Daily Show, to prove their point with fun and humor. I also believe that if I had the time and budget “The Lipstick Liberal Show” could be on a TV channel, like Adult Swim (big tagahanga of Children's Hospital with Rob Corddry), as I have many scripts and ideas. Heck, I would pag-ibig to do a ipakita everyday!
HOLLY: Overall, what do you hope your audiences gain from watching “The Lipstick Liberal”?
LIPSTICK LIBERAL: To laugh instead of cry at the Right-Wing Republican tactics of trying to take over the country!
HOLLY: And, give us one word to describe this election season.
LIPSTICK LIBERAL: Black Propaganda
