My god so much hate for one character REALLY?!

I mean unless she did something unforgivable,horrible,etc in the later chapters there's absolutely NO REASON to be bitching and moaning,hating on Yuuki at all.

Plus I happen to like her as well.She besides Kaname and Rima is my favorite character in Vampire Knight.

Well, at least we can agree that Rima is a great character.

A lot of people complain about the love triangle and blame it on her. But aren't love triangles common in shojo manga (and in a lot of other story telling media)? That's what I've understood.

@Flickerflame Well yes the love triangle cliche was bound to happen,but Yuuki WASN'T the cause of it...at least imo.

I think people just don't wanna accept the fact that Yuuki chose Kaname LONG before Zero even came into the picture (Which was obvious since day one),but then...pardon my french...OF FUCKING COURSE what happens?

Would've been better if that whole Twilight cliche story telling was left out of my Vampire Manga love stories,but I guess that's apparently what people wanna read,see these days *Sigh*

Cuz just as you said and I totally agree she developed romantic feelings for Zero ONLY after she eventually learned that his feelings for her were romantic (or as I call it the writer/author' excuse to start cliched love triangle wars AND cuz I get the feeling she's too indecisive on who she wants Yuuki to end up with at times)...no offense to Matsuri-san I LOVE her story,characters,art,etc.

It's just that it pisses me off at times that,because of the obvious storytelling,etc Yuuki is WAY too indecisive as well as to who she wants to end up with I mean she CLEARLY knows by now that she and Kaname were destined to be together since day one and whatnot,but OF COURSE she hasn't fully consummated those feelings to Kaname yet (haven't read past volume 11 or 12 yet) all cuz Zero got in the way...and cliched love triangle plots,etc lol

I agree with parts and disagree with others.

I don't hate Yuuki for the love triangle (not at all), I was just explaining that it seems to be some people's basis for hating her. Which is stupid, because the love triangle is just part of the story genre Vampire Knight is in.

I don't agree with you that she's destined to be with Kaname from day 1 - it seemed the opposite to me when I first watched the anime and read the manga. For me, her risking her life by giving Zero blood continually was a big hint that her emotions towards him were more than she realised. No one does something like that just because they feel pity and guilty about comments they've made in the past!

@Flickerflame Ah,but unless my memory isn't what it used to be,etc lol Yuuki DID like Kaname when the story started obviously more than out of admiration,etc but after watching him drink Ruka' blood she slightly feared him for years to come until she got her memory back later on in the story and whatnot.

Adding Zero to the mix UNFORTUNATELY and ANNOYINGLY didn't help matters either.So imo if the whole catching Kaname drinking Ruka' blood thing had never occurred Yuuki would've admitted her romantic feelings to Kaname THEN AND THERE.

That and lets not forget BEFORE Zero even came into the picture Yuuki had known Kaname longer...he was always with her growing up and WATCHED her grow up after all.

SO the way I see it Yuuki probably knows as well she was destined to be with Kaname,but like I said of course...the writing,cliche love triangle shenanigans,etc etc got in the way.

Are we seriously heading down a flame war path as to who we think would be better for Yuuki or something? Lol cuz I can't help but notice our friendly conversation going from not seeing why people hate Yuuki so much to arguing on who's the better choice for Yuuki lmao

I was actually trying to avoid turning the conversation into a shipping war. That's why my answer on that part was pretty brief. I was just saying that Yuuki loving both of them wasn't as out of the blue as you seem to have suggested.

I don't really like Kaname, Zero, or Yuuki a basically all the three of them do is talk about each other. So I don't hate Yuuki but i also don't like her either.

Do you just like the other characters then? Or just the storyline in general?

@rosedawson1 I agree with Flickerflame and I'm not gonna ask my question cuz Flickerflame pretty much asked the question for me.If so then what's your point for even reading or watching Vampire Knight if you don't like any of the 3 main characters? Unless again you like a or some of the supporting/extra character(s).

As long as we both at least SOMEWHAT agree that Yuuki loving Zero as well did feel out of the blue,random,etc then I'm fine with that lol.

I dislike Yuki because she's a terrible main character, and annoys me. If you've read the manga for Vampire Knight, you'll see why. But honestly she would fit far more in the typical romance universe, not VK. She basically turned Vampire Knight into the full fledged version of Twilight, which I also hate, hence why I despise her. I'm also laughing at the fact that 90% of the fandom hates her, and that most people don't even like Yuki x Zero. She reminds me far to much of Sakura from Naruto as well.

@CloudDew82 I HAVE read most of the Manga (The volumes I have so far) and yet even after everything you just said I STILL don't see why people give Yuuki so much hate.

I'm starting to think I'm the only person or one of the few that actually likes Yuuki which is VERY sad.

All you haters can say all you want about Yuuki,but at least she's 50 times better than Sara Shirabuki is that's for damn sure.

Having a love triangle doesn't automatically turn something into Twilight. It's so annoying whenever I see a statement like that. And romance was almost meant to be a big part of VK. When it started it was described as a tragedy, vampire LOVE story.

Yuuki haters on this site have YET to give me an actual LOGICAL,understandable,justifiable,etc reason why they hate Yuuki so much...so far everyone has said they hate her including CloudDew82 from my previous comment just cuz they flat out hate her period.

I really like her relationship with Zero. And she has a nice personality. Most people hate her for being indecisive or choosing the guy they don't like her with. I dislike Yuki x Kaname pairing but I don't hate her for having feelings for him, it's understandable. But I firmly believe Zero is better with her.

@Dorodere Well if you think Zero is better for her than fine that's your opinion,but the fact of the matter is Kaname was always the one for Yuuki since day one.

It was proven and shown time and time again Yuuki and Kaname deserve one another.The love Kaname has for Yuuki extends beyond the whole Pureblood status thing,being related or not,etc.

And yes Kaname' actions at times do seem a little extreme,but he's only doing everything in his power to protect the only person he loves with every fiber of his being and he doesn't wanna lose,Yuuki.

So the rumours about the shipping wars were true...I actually very much dislike her myself, but I wouldn't be so immature as to say "die bitch die". It seems to me that she is a cliche protagonist: the girl who is "different from the rest" and beloved by all, "touchingly clumsy" in order to be relatable, and capable of conveniently alternating between being strong and being entirely defenceless in order to play the role of the damsel in distress. Additionally, she happily leaves Zero to his fate while she goes off to romance Kaname and still pretends that she protected him all along [second season]. At least to me, that seems the mark of a bad friend. Perhaps I have seen too much shoujo anime, but this archetype is more annoying to me each time I see it. I also find it difficult to appreciate her Hio Shizuka-esque behaviour towards the rest of the Night Class near the end of the second season. （This is with the exception of her request that Aido address her as simply "Yuki Cross" as before, which is a preference she quickly forgets.）
I hope these reasons are considered substantial enough for approval to not entirely love character without being told to "fuck off". I am glad for this opportunity to analyse my own emotional response to entertainment, although I will admit I have no intention of engaging in a lengthy discussion over a fictional character I don't particularly care for. I have already learned that these arguments are a waste of time and rhetoric. I wish to remind everyone that the purpose of these polls are to express our opinions, not to attack those who disagree with us.

@nihonphilia Have you read the Manga by any chance? Cuz going by the anime adaptation isn't the best way to go about the story trust me the manga is WAY better...and coming from ME who normally prefers anime adaptations over the original Mangas.

Now I respect your opinion and at least you tried to make a valid points as to why you hate Yuuki,but unless there was something I missed in terms of how Yuuki' personality,etc works....she's WAY different from Shizuka Hio after everything I read in the Manga.

Oh and even Shizuka herself wasn't actually a all out villain like the anime tried to make it seem if I remember correctly which again shows that going by the anime isn't the best option If you REALLY wanna get the full gist of the story.*SPOILER* it was RIDO (Kaname and Yuuki' uncle) that caused everything that happened to Shizuka Hio that made her make Zero' brother kill their parents and whatnot.

It was Rido that told the council about Shizuka' love affair with the human she fell in love with which led to him being killed.The two vampire hunters that killed him COINCIDENTALLY being Zero and Ichijou' parents which would then lead to Shizuka killing them or make Ichijou kill them so on and so forth.

It was ALL his doing and just to get rid of his former fiance,Shizuka to top it off.So she too wasn't a true villain by choice...lies and deceit that was the name of the game.

Now your hate for Yuuki I still don't see and agree with,but again respect your opinion and if that's what you believe she is then fine I don't wanna cause another flame war myself so yeah we'll just leave this chat the way it is.

@PurebloodKuran1 I was not accusing anyone of being a villain; it would be immature of me to do so. I was merely discovering my own reasons for my dislike of a character based on mannerisms or individual decisions. Furthermore, I have read the manga and am well aware that Rido was the antagonist of the series. Therefore I did not "try" to make valid points; my evidence was valid and my interpretation of it, my opinion, can by definition not be valid or invalid. For that reason I am also respectful of any opinion that is supported by solid evidence.

I think what nihonphilia is referring to is the traditional pureblood behaviour and mannerism, accepting the other vampires bowing down to them and speaking to them respectfully etc. Not comparing Yuuki to Shizuka in morality or role in the story.

While it's true that Yuuki does become more traditionally pureblood in behaviour, you need to remember that's what society expects of her. The other vampires would just react weirdly, or find the opportunity to take advantage, if she kept protesting. You do sometimes (in the manga, at least) still see that she's uncomfortable with it all.

Anyway I wasn't referring to Yuuki' Pureblood status and everything else you mentioned.The point is NO ONE in this comment thread has yet given real,valid,etc reasons as to why they hate Yuuki so much.

Some have said it's her personality,her royal status,her relationship with certain characters or whatever and yet NONE of that matter to me nor actually give me any info of the sort and whatnot.

Maybe it's cuz I'm too open-minded for my own good,love Yuuki more than I probably should,etc...whatever the case I really don't see any traits she may had that would make me hate her for any reason.

Plus why would Yuuki protesting and being uncomfortable be reasons for someone to hate her? I'm not yelling,or starting a fight or anything just wondering.

You're getting mixed up - I was talking about nihonphilia's comment, not yours. He or she says that it's the way Yuuki behaves near the end which makes him or her dislike the character. Also, the opinion he or she voted for was "meh" not "hate".

In the end, Yuuki loved both guys. She loved Zero as a brotherly figure in her life, while she admired and looked up to Kaname for saving her when she was younger. She was in love with Kaname, obviously, but her feelings were Zero stood strong nonetheless. Either one of the guys could have ended up with Yuuki.

Yuuki is mediocre in my opinion, because throughout the franchise, she fawned over Kaname constantly, but she was also a loyal and reliable person. As realistic as she was, she wouldn't stop talking about Kaname. Despite the fact that she owes Kaname big time, it was still a LITTLE bit overkill. However, her character depth was sublime for a main protaganist.
