 "Redwood" - Series Poster
"Redwood" - Series Poster
If you’re a tagahanga of all things vampire, then you’re going to pag-ibig the new web series “Redwood.” This fresh spin on the genre centers around a vampire keeping a sickly human alive sa pamamagitan ng feeding her his blood, instead of the standard sharp-toothed feeding frenzy.

From creator/actor Alisha Peats and producer/actor hasmin Hester, “Redwood” was selected to screen at the upcoming holly Shorts Film Festival on April 8th. But, if you can’t wait…the good thing is you don’t have to. This dark and gritty drama, directed sa pamamagitan ng up-and-comer Michael Willer, premiered online back in January and has been rolling out its first season over the last several weeks at: link

I recently had a chance to catch up with Alisha Peats and hasmin Hester to find out madami about the first season of “Redwood,” their roles both in-front of the camera and behind the scenes and what’s susunod for this new supernatural vampire series.

HOLLY: Tell us about your new supernatural vampire web series, “Redwood.”

ALISHA: Redwood is a dramatic vampire genre web series. The story centers around Skylar Jones, a young woman who is dying from an allergic reaction to medical vampire blood. Days from death, she meets a young vampire who seems to ipakita up out of nowhere with a potential cure for her fatal illness: his blood. He agrees to feed her his blood, but nothing is as simple as it seems, and the resulting battles, both emotional and physical, put Skylar and everyone she loves at risk.

Almost all of the episodes are around 10 minutos long so we really give the audience a little bit to chew on (no pun intended.) A lot of web series today consist of a bunch of short little comedy skits. That’s not us.

HOLLY: Are you a huge tagahanga of vampire dramas or what made you steer towards creating something in this genre?

JASMINE: I personally have always liked vampires, and the sci-fi/fantasy genres. I have a huge imagination, so it’s intriguing to be a part of making a vampire-based drama. As an actress, I’ve never had the opportunity to play a character like Ana, let alone be a vampire, so it was a very interesting and exciting experience.

ALISHA: I have always been a tagahanga of vampire dramas. Growing up, I never missed an episode of Buffy or Angel. And madami recently I’ve become a huge tagahanga of The Vampire Diaries, True Blood and Being Human. Name a vampire ipakita and I’ve probably watched it. That said, I was very hesitant to make my own vampire ipakita because I was worried we would instantly be compared to all these amazing shows that have way bigger budgets than us. Obviously we can’t have people getting thrown through brick buildings or Bampira exploding into blood and guts when they die. Our stunts and special effects are limited sa pamamagitan ng our budget. But I pag-ibig vampires. So I decided to write a ipakita that had Bampira in it but was madami ABOUT the human struggles. Bampira are, after all, humans who have simply lived way too long. It has to wear on them emotionally. And let’s face it, exploding bodies and awesome stunts are great, but watching someone struggle with emotions and insecurities that we feel every araw is what compelling telebisyon is all about. It’s a powerful thing. That said… we do have some awesome choreographed fights!

HOLLY: You both act in the project as well as creating and producing. Was it hard to wear that many hats all at the same time or is it easier because you understand what you want from a scene?

JASMINE: If I sinabi that it was easy, I’d be lying to you. Alisha and I have never produced anything, so this was our first go at such a big production, it was definitely a “learn as you go” experience, we made some mistakes, and learned from them. There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to make a production run smoothly, so a lot of the time, we found that this would have to be our focus, but as actors who are very passionate about their work, at times we found it difficult to balance production, with building our characters, and doing “homework” on our script. However, when it came to actually shooting Redwood, it became a little easier because we were pretty good at making sure the other one took off their “producer” hat while acting, and we were there to remind each other of that for the duration of the shoot, so that helped.

ALISHA: Yes and yes. It is challenging to wear multiple hats. I think over the course of the first season hasmin and I wore about 40 hats each. It could be quite overwhelming at times. I think I developed multiple personalities: producer, writer, and actress. I may or may not have had some Gollum moments. That said, sa pamamagitan ng the time we started rehearsing Redwood, I knew pretty well how I wanted to portray Skylar. So the pagganap came easy.

HOLLY: What’s susunod for the series? Are you thinking of a segundo season?

ALISHA: Yes! A segundo season is in the works. It will be longer than the first season and it will introduce some awesome new characters and plot twists. I can honestly say if someone enjoyed the first season, they will pag-ibig the segundo season. The story gets intense. The plan is to start Season 2 pre-production this spring and hopefully shoot this summer.

JASMINE: Well, as of now we are going into our season finale for season one! We have a few film festivals that Redwood will be screening at, so we’re really excited about those. We’re currently trying to research other ways to get Redwood on a bigger stage, so that we can expand our audience, and of course there will be a season two!! It is currently in the Pagsulat stages, and we promise it will have lots of new plot twists and new characters… it’s going to be phenomenal!

HOLLY: Anything else you’d like to share with our readers? And, how can audiences watch this new webseries and keep updated on future episodes?

JASMINE: Just want to take the time to acknowledge the many people who helped make “Redwood” what it is. We had an amazing cast (Mark Barry, Laura Soares, Jeff Torres, Alli Miller, Rane Jameson, Joey Kloberdanz and our hikers!), extremely talented crew (Michael Willer, Doniella Davy, Charlie Murphy, Harry Morrison, Matt Sanders), and a very helpful stunt coordinator (Eric Shamm Watson) and of course our mga kaibigan and family who helped us on kickstarter, Alisha and I wouldn’t know what to do without your help, and we’re extremely grateful.

There are a few ways to view “Redwood”…
We have our website: link
We also have a youtube channel: link

Both of these places have episodes, cast interviews, or “Talk to us Tuesday” segments, as well as other behind the scenes footage. “Redwood” can also be viewed on link and link

ALISHA: We would be nowhere without these amazing people. Also, regarding our social media sites, we are always on our Facebook and Twitter pages so it’s a great way to connect with us. We always respond to every comment and tweet, and we pag-ibig hearing from people who are enjoying the show. Plus (you didn’t hear this from me) we give away a lot of free stuff. ;-)

Everyone was sitting on the tables just 2 people still wasn’t there. Then the teacher came in. She was old. Very old, she had grey hair, like my mesa and dark red eyes. I wasn’t scared of her. She looked nice and she was nice! She introduced herself. And then begin to call our names to see if we are all here. She began:
“Jackson Belmont.” She said.
“Here. ” He afro boy said. Yeah you heard right. He has a big black afro and brown eyes. He looked like not a evil person so I thought we would get good friends. He smiled and sat down.
“Laura Alcotte” The teacher called.

I have a normal life, if we could call it that way.
Well, you see I'm a Vampire. Now, now, I'm not a killer. I don't kill people, I'm Vegeterian. I almost never drink blood, but I'm not weak. When I need to drink blood I drink animal blood. I pag-ibig mga hayop so It's very hard to look at they're cute face and kill them. =( I live in the UK, to be madami precisely in London. In a small, dark street. The name doesn't matter. Maybe you want to know how I look like. First of all I wanna say I'm not an Emo, Punk...

I downloaded the web original vampire rock musical link… and I liked it. Yeah, I had to make that joke. Seriously, though, I found it mildly entertaining and worth a watch every now and then. It’s basically like a tumawid between High School Musical, which it pays tribute to, and just a generic corny vampire film. One thing I like is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it’s madami humorous because of it. It’s not that good, but it’s cute enough for what it is. My full review follows:

The ipakita starts out with our protagonist: average boy Dylan, ranting to the camera about turning...

Bampira have been popular in novels and the pelikula for many centuries. Our fascination with Bampira began in the 1700s, when the bodies of suspected Bampira were dug up and destroyed. One of the first artistic references to the vampire was in the poem "The Vampire" in 1748. Bram Stoker immortalized the vampire in his novel "Dracula" in 1897. One of the most notable modern literary examples of the vampire is Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles," featuring the vampire Lestat. Learn how you can write vampire books that will add something new to this popular horror sub-genre.

 Sanguinarian Vampire
Sanguinarian Vampire
We have dipped down into the basics of Sanguinarian Bampira in past posts, and touched on how Sanguinarian Bampira are people who feel the compulsion or the need to feed on human blood. Generally, Sanguinarians don’t drain their donors completely and they usually only feel the need for a teaspoon or two at a time. Still, even a lack of this small amount can cause some Sanguinarians to go into blood withdrawal overdrive and even cause them to have some pretty serious physical withdrawal symptoms.

Donors for Sanguinarian Bampira are generally people that the vampire knows personally and has...

Having your very own dark and sexy vampire boyfriend would of course totally rock all sorts of awesome. But like most good things there are a few downsides to it as well. Why would it suck having a vampire as a boyfriend? Read on…

1. Vampire bite marks on your neck are way harder to cover up than a hickey some mortal boy may give you. It’ll take a bit madami than concealer to cover that baby up; I suggest investing in a lot of scarves.

2. You know how parents always want to have a nice family hapunan with your new boy to get to know him better? Well, that’s a little hard for someone that only...

Vampire Bite
I wonder innocently through these dark alleys,
fearing the dark shadows i feel are lurking behind me,
The smell of my flesh and blood rushes through the air,
ive ran for far too long,
Im now out of breath,
i need to rest,
i pause for a moment, finding myself standing directly infront of a brick wall,
how could this be? this wasent here before?
i could swear there was an alley was for me to walk,
i turn, but as i go to head back,
i see another pader blocking my path,
have i been trapped?
or is it that i have been captured,
Have these alleys been their bait?
these creatures of the night,
they stand...

Preface
I always thought of memory loss as a good thing, you didn’t have to remember pain, loss or things you regret. But as I stared into the crimson eyes of the girl whose plan was to kill me.
I hoped that this would be a memory the man I loved would forget.
A feral growl ripped through air and out of nowhere my hero, my saviour, my angel here to rescue me and carry me up to heaven.

Anniversary

I slapped my hand down on the alarm clock that sat on my bedside table, 7:00 Wednesday morning I’d slept for eleven hours but I felt like I hadn’t slept for weeks. As I sat up my stomach twisted,...
