Have you ever played Dark Souls and went onto the PvP that the community creates? I layed Dark Souls III and tried out the PvP and had way madami fun with it than literally anything that was put into the single player story. I really enjoyed it and wondered if there was any game with combat like this that was just PvP. And wouldn’t you know it, there was. Not with weapons, of course, but you take what you can get. So let us talk about Absolver

So Absolver is about… uh… monks with masks or… something… Hang on, let me pull up a Wikipedia page. Alright, so the game followed a group of peacekeepers known as Absolvers who travel to a different world to fight off evil Aboslvers, and you play as a new Absolver who is tasked with going into the other world of Adal to prove yourself as one of them. The story for this game is kinda vague at times, but like Dark Souls, the story never mattered. How is the gameplay? You have a set of moves that you can teach your character. You have different bunches, kicks, blocks, and how you set them up will change how your combo works. Every NPC you run into has a different method of fighting, some will rush you with attacks, others will keep blocking until you can break it, while others will try to exhaust you with dodges before landing a hit. You gotta learn what to use and how to beat your opponents. You also get a different series of punches and kicks unlocked, and while that is a nice touch, I never found myself changing my first set up. I was quite satisfied with what I came out with. There are also swords you can pick up…. Yippie.
That being said, the environments in this world are insanely impressive for just being an indie game. This was made sa pamamagitan ng developers who once worked at Ubisoft Paris and had this game in the works for a while, coming out with something that looks this amazing. I always say that pixel art can look good no matter what, but even I can’t deny that Absolver’s environments are impressie. Even their characters have a sort of paper-like charm to their models. Oh, but of course, this wouldn’t be a PvP game without the online features, and this game certainly has that. I was fortunate to play this game while it was still getting traction, so I ran into a few players here and there. Some of them were quite friendly, wanting to help me along the way. I’d like to thank one specific player, known as Infin1ty-Slayer. Without him, I would probably be wandering around for hours. As for the rest of you players I met, who chose to beat the shit out of me… fuck off. Just like PvP, players can decide to be your mga kaibigan or to fight you and slow your progress down. You never know when someone is gonna come, ready for a fight or if they want to lead you to your target and help you fight them and make your way to the exit. Depending on who you run into, this five oras game can become a two oras game, maybe even less than that. I was shocked I beat this game way faster than I expected, but hey, it helps get these reviews out there.
Absolver is a neat online indie pamagat that you can have some fun with in short bursts here and there. The world is fun to explore and the combat is well thought out, if a bit simple depending on how you play. Maybe I’m playing like garbage, I don’t know. I am reviewing games online, so sa pamamagitan ng default, I suck at video games. If you want to enjoy a strange world or if you just wanna fight people online, consider checking out Absolver
