Giotto has spiky golden blonde hair and kahel eyes (Even though it becomes a lighter shade when not in Hyper Dying Will Mode). He wears a pair of special combat gloves similar to Tsuna's X gloves, but instead of an X, there is an I. He wears a black suit with white pinstripes under a long black balabal with golden ornaments. This balabal could releases Sky flames and is able to nullify attacks.
He is the founder and the first boss of the Vongola Famiglia. He is also sinabi to be the strongest Vongola boss. He founded the Vongola not be a mafia group, but a Vigilante to help people. He was the one who created the Zero Point Breakthrough: First Edition technique; which both Tsuna and Timoteo use. After he was forced to step down, he went to Hapon and started a family. Tsuna is his Great-great-great grandson. Giotto refers to Tsuna as his "true successor".
He had a very close relationship with Cozarto Simon (The Simon family's first boss), so close that it was sinabi that they would never tumawid swords with each other. In fact, it was he who suggested to Giotto to start a Vigilante group.
Coincidentally, Giotto can be translated as "Gentle/peaceful leader" in Italian. It is also the name of a famous Italian painter (Giotto di Bondone), who is generally considered the first in a line of great artists who contributed to the Italian Renaissance.
